Re: Georgetown C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Has anyone had a recommender receive the following thank you email:
Dear X ,
Thank you for submitting a recommendation to Georgetown Law on behalf of X. We truly appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts on X with our Admissions Committee.
Each admissions cycle, Georgetown Law typically receives more applications than any other law school in the country. Our Committee depends upon recommendations to help us get to know who each unique applicant is behind the application. Consequently, your first-hand input is critical in helping our Committee make the difficult decisions we face as we try to assemble our class. Thank you again for your insight and for participating in our admissions process.
With gratitude and best regards,
Andrew Cornblatt
Dean of Admissions
Associate Vice President for Graduate Admissions and Enrollment
I've seen this in years past, wondered if anyone had received one this cycle.

Was your recommender a GULC alum? My recommender for SLS received a letter in the mail with a similar message from Dean Deal and they are an alum.easypeel wrote:Has anyone had a recommender receive the following thank you email:

Recommender was not an alum. My application was complete on 11/6 and he received the thank you email on 11/5. Doesn't sound overly optimistic, but also confusing that not all recommenders receive them.JD116 wrote:Was your recommender a GULC alum? My recommender got the same email the same day I got the interview request. He has received them from every school I have been accepted to and then Georgetown. I hoped it meant something but I am likely a waitlist candidate so I don't know.easypeel wrote:Has anyone had a recommender receive the following thank you email:

Agreed, I don't think there is any meaning behind it. Just thought it was odd. I however haven't been asked to interview so who knows.janderson821 wrote:My recommender got the same email the same day I got the interview request. My recommenders both got these emails from Georgetown. Neither had any connection to the school. It seems fairly universal?easypeel wrote:Has anyone had a recommender receive the following thank you email:

It does seem universal, I didn't know if everyone received them however, but from the replies, it seems to be standard practice and not too significant.WinterComing wrote:My recommenders both got these emails from Georgetown. I'm an international student too. My ED application is completed on 8th, October.. But I've not heard anything yet.. neither an email for WL nor for deferring to regular session or rejection...don't know whether it's sign that they already rejected me.kangaroo430 wrote:Yes sir/maam. Same here! Application was marked complete October 30th, received an acceptance letter dated November 9th without an interview request. And the personalization as well.Biglaw1990 wrote:Mine did as well.christinanc93 wrote:Mine did too, but I think feeling special is entirely acceptablejwwoodma wrote:In today! Applieud October 29th, letter was post-marked for November 9th. I never received an interview request.
Side-note, did anyone else's letter come with a personalized note written by the dean? Should I feel as special as I do right now?

Anyone who has interviewed mind sharing what the scheduling is like? I'm fearful I won't be able to accommodate it with my work schedule.

In via snail mail on 11/13, but I was curious as to when the scholarship info is traditionally released?

I called both the Office of Financial Aid and the Admissions Office, and I was told that scholarship notifications will not be released until at least February.jlopez wrote:In via snail mail on 11/13, but I was curious as to when the scholarship info is traditionally released?

Does anyone know what determines who gets a group interview and who gets directly admitted? I have strong numbers and just got a group interview invite. I'm in DC, though, so I'm hoping that's why I got the invite. Also, any insight on what happens at the interview? Common questions, etc?

Submitted Nov 2, received email with tracker Nov 3. Fairly certain my app was complete at that point. No word yet. My numbers are pretty weak, so my timeline may not be very helpful to anyone. I'll post again when I hear though...

It's not clear what determines it, especially if you're in DC where it's really convenient for them to interview you. FWIW I was admitted days after my interview so I would definitely go.mollywood wrote:Does anyone know what determines who gets a group interview and who gets directly admitted? As for what happens, the group interview isn't your typical interview. It's activity based. Just go in prepared to work well on a team and you'll be fine.
