Had my interview recently, and was surprised by the questions asked. Very few actually corresponded to the list of questions ITT (maybe 1-2 for the whole 30 minutes).

Any surprising ones you're willing to share?

Apologize for the super late reply -- one was: "What do you think about the state of US-Canada affairs currently and moving forward?"

I'm Canadian, so I think this would have something to do with it.

LMAO @ this question...im Canadian as well and i dont even know how i would have answered that. It seems so formal. My interview was downright jolly compared to that.

Yeah, I was personally taken aback by the type of questions asked -- it was more like talking about current world events rather than an interview for the law school.

I'm a Canadian applicant too, but I didn't get asked any Canada-related questions or surprising questions... I actually felt terrified even reading the question that you were asked (the one on US-Canada relations), because I honestly would not have been able to reply with anything coherent

Hopefully you did much better than I could, though, and do you think there was anything in your application that prompted interview questions about current world events? Or did it feel completely random?

I interviewed in October and just got a decision last week.

Decisions are released in waves, so waiting times are more a function of when one interviewed relative to a decision wave. I interviewed late Dec. and heard back during last Wednesday's wave as well. You might check out this chart to get a sense: http://mylsn.info/d/chicago/1415-NoED/

Did any other waitlisted applicants receive an e-mail inviting you to write an additional essay... with a due date of February 31st?

I emailed admissions about a week ago asking for clarification on this, but no reply.

Why wouldn't you just submit the essay by Feb. 29th if you choose to write it? It was clearly a typo and it's not like the difference of a few days imposes a severe burden when you have ~6 weeks notice. Not sure why that needed an e-mail asking for clarification.

Jan. 31st seems unlikely, but a polite call to the Admissions office might be the quickest way to verify that (if you're concerned that may have been what they meant and don't hear back via e-mail soon).

I emailed them after I was admitted and they said that interviews for Doctoroff begin February 1st on a rolling basis

My app went complete on Dec. 4 and I got the interview request on Jan. 11.

The best answer you'll find to that question is in the U Chicago Admissions Results (2015-2016 Cycle) spreadsheet in this thread's OP. According to the available data we have, the average wait time from complete to interview request is 41.5 days.

Take that with a grain of salt, though, since interview requests have been going out in waves, much like decisions. There's a lot of variation in wait times.

I've got my interview tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous for a 'trip-up' question to come up... if anyone cares to PM me examples of weird questions they've gotten, it'd be much appreciated!

No? I went under review on 12/5 and didn't get an invite until 1/11. If you are not under review yet I wouldn't assume the worst. It is possible you will just be in the next wave of invites!

How many date changes after interview? Just got a date change and I had one for complete, one before interview, one less than a day after my interview, and now another today
