I was PT but I didn't even get a viewbook. It's like they invite me to a party, but don't send me an invitation because they'll know I'll just show up anyways. I'm not some floozy! Not for you, Duke!gobears!! wrote:It's like they invited us to the party with a waiver and a view book and then don't let us in on the day of. Maybe I am, but that doesn't mean you can take advantage of me!

Could totally be a shipping thing too, though! It was honestly the first thing I could think of. Whatever, guess I'm the asshole.lymenheimer wrote:Well if your username isn't one of the biggest spoilers...darlenealderson wrote:Also admitted this evening, congrats y'all! Hoping the best for you 2 since there was no conclusion to your angst. If accepted, welcome! Super great news! If held over, do super well on this next LSAT and good luck with the review! If wait listed, you're not the first and you surely won't be the last. If Duke is one of your top choices, keep in contact with LOCIs since it is super early in the cycle. Don't overdo it, but enough for them to know you want in. If denied, it's super early in the cycle and schools have been known to withdraw denials with an improved LSAT or even with certain credentials later in the cycle (if you are thinking about a retake and if Duke is a top choice). Also, I'm sure other schools will come back affirmatively for you. Some schools haven't even started reviewing applicants yet. Either way, keep your heads up and good luck with the rest of your cycle!blue2016 wrote:

Haha. I'd be half pissed if I hadn't already watched the finale, but there is a Mr Robot thread in the off-topics (lounge) if you're super into it. Doesn't have much action, but interesting theory spouting.darlenealderson wrote:Could totally be a shipping thing too, though! It was honestly the first thing I could think of. Congrats to everyone who already got in! Quick question for y'all:
What's the consensus on Duke's more specific personal statement prompt? In the flexible application it says,
What's the consensus on Duke's more specific personal statement prompt? In the flexible application it says,
My general PS was a story of personal growth and had nothing to do with personal or career ambitions, so it seems that it would fulfill the first but not the second criterion of this prompt. Should I revise or rewrite mine to account for those details or just submit what I've already written?Personal Statement: You will be required to submit a personal statement as an attachment. The statement is your opportunity to introduce yourself to the admissions committee and should include (1) what you think have been your significant personal experiences beyond what may be reflected in your academic transcripts and on your resume, and (2) your personal and career ambitions. There is no required length.

Re: Duke University School of Law C/O 2019 Applicants
Honestly it's up to you, I took advantage of the PS prompt and Optional Essay 1 (especially since Op Es 1 asks for the piece "Why law" and "Why Duke" which I don't discuss in my PS). My career ambitions discussion was perhaps a paragraph at the end of my PS. I think it would valuable to stick to the prompt (or adjust therein) since they do ask for it. It may take a bit more time, but I think it would be beneficial in the end (attentiveness, more direct conversation, etc.). It does say that there is no required length, so you could add a paragraph or two with some reference sentences in the middle so it doesn't look out of place. I think it's worth it if you can make it flow.Cocoron wrote:Congrats to everyone who already got in! Quick question for y'all:
