Checking in. NYU is probably the highest ranked school that I have a solid chance of getting into. I have high hopes, esp considering the lack of top scorers.

I submitted 1/2/15, my app says "under review" as of today. Is this quicker than normal or does NYU normally leave you hanging under review for a while?

NYU is pretty fast, as far as going under review. Turnaround for hearing back seems to vary, however. Some people hear back in a few weeks. Some longer than that.mekepo wrote:I submitted 1/2/15, my app says "under review" as of today. Is this quicker than normal or does NYU normally leave you hanging under review for a while?

Correct, turnaround can vary, I'm guessing based on stats. Been under review here for over a month nowjemthey17 wrote:NYU is pretty fast, as far as going under review. Re: NYU c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
Having a very slight panic attack because I just realized there is an error in my application. On my application form, I have it checked off that I want to apply for Root-Tilden-Kern, Jacobson and D'Agostino. However, due to my recommender being out of the country, I wasn't able to get a letter on time and decided not to apply. I thought I un-checked those boxes on the form but clearly I didn't, and no application essay for those programs is attached. Should I call and clarify? Is that just bringing the error more to their attention? I just really don't want it to negatively impact my odds.
ETA: NYU is my first choice, so it's extremely important. I re-checked the application a hundred times for typos, but of course this slips by.

1L RTK scholar here. We are involved in the selection process starting next semester. From what I can tell, unless you indicate that you wanted your statement or a specific LOR to be used for the scholly selection process, we won't think much of a ticked box. So in all likelihood, we'll see the box, notice there is no attached essay or letter, and just pass on the application. Also remember, to be considered for RTK, you HAVE to be admitted first, which means if we get your application, you already got in and admission won't be revoked for a clerical error on your part. Be calm, everything will be okaypsychmusic wrote:Could you maybe act as if you still intended to apply when you submitted the app, but only realized afterwards that the recommendation wouldn't be in in time?waterandparchedearth wrote:Having a very slight panic attack because I just realized there is an error in my application. Even though I'm not involved in this situation, nor did I apply for RTK - this conversation stressed me out and then subsequently calmed me. Applying to law school is weird.kkdk wrote:Be calm, everything will be okay

I submitted 12/30, went UR1 on 1/5, and have now moved to UR2.mekepo wrote:I submitted 1/2/15, my app says "under review" as of today. Is this quicker than normal or does NYU normally leave you hanging under review for a while?

I had the same situation back in October and didn't end up hearing about my acceptance until early December. Don't get too fed up if the dates stop updating soon, it doesn't mean much!mindthegap wrote:I submitted 12/30, went UR1 on 1/5, and have now moved to UR2.mekepo wrote:I submitted 1/2/15, my app says "under review" as of today. NYU's status page seems to struggle with the mass rush that occurs when DLS's are announced. I think it happened once or twice in December as well.kayrih wrote:anyone not able to load the status site? just shows "page does not exist"

Re: NYU c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
Thanks everyone for your help! That did help me chill out. I'm more worried about the normal JD admissions committee seeing that I ticked the box but didn't include any application components to pass on, and thinking that I'm careless and that being a strike against me. But it definitely is reassuring to see that I'm probably overthinking it. Should I call in to NYU anyway, letting them know that I ticked the box but I no longer want to be considered, as I found out my reference would not be available in time? Or just leave it be?kkdk wrote:1L RTK scholar here. We are involved in the selection process starting next semester. My status just updated to Decision Letter Sent. The only other update is "Applicant Online Status Check Login Info" in early December. But I can log into the Admitted Students site... Am I in?! Doesn't everyone go through UR1 / UR2? Should I be celebrating?
