# of applicants who did JS1s : 188
JS1s accepted: 65% -> 81%
JS1s denied: 3% -> 19%
JS1s decision pending: 32% [100-65-3]
if we distribute decision pending to accepts and denies, it would be 81% accepted, which follows what we know about JS1s overall already. A bit on the high side, probably from a mixture of self-selection into TLS itself and then self-selection to report on the spreadsheet.
# of applicants who did JS1s in October or November: 82
JS1s accepted: 68 + 9.4 = 77.4 -> 94%
JS1s denied: 3 + 0.4 = 3.4
JS1s WL: 1 + 0.1 = 1.1
JS1s decision pending: 10
If we distribute the 10 decision pending to accept, deny and WL, it would be 94% accepted, which may be a bit higher than the actual as well.
Anyway, your chances are good.

It just goes to show how much clout an HLS degree carries compared to other schools.

It's a multi-part documentary called "Suits". I would highly recommend everyone watch it to get an idea of what the practice of law is actually going to be like.appind wrote:documentary name?pulstar1 wrote: Yeah and also I saw this documentary on USA about a law firm that only hires from HLS. You need to consider the fact that they are gonna interview everyone with a 169, though few will get in.appind wrote:iirc it's more like 30%bleachth wrote:some friend told me roughly 20% of JS1 was not admitted in the end. Is this true![]()
For chances, mylsn.info remains the best metric by far.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I think the take-away here is that trying to analyze your chances at a JS2 given the fact that you got a JS1 is not going to be useful as the two are not independent probabilities. 1200 JS1s and 900 JS2s are going to go out. The 300 that don't get JS2s are, for the most part, going to be the ones with the lowest numbers among the 1200. Putting your numbers into mylsn should tell you pretty much everything you need to know about your chances. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.xylocarp wrote:huh?Seoulless wrote:You need to consider the fact that they are gonna interview everyone with a 169, though few will get in.appind wrote:iirc it's more like 30%bleachth wrote:some friend told me roughly 20% of JS1 was not admitted in the end. ETA: I don't believe they are going to interview everyone with a 169. I don't think Seoulless meant that literally.

So how long do we have to wait after our interviews to hear back from Harvard? One person on LSN got in the day after his/her interview, in late Dec.

As with every single question about this process, there is no definitive answer. It depends. If you interviewed on first date possible, and they want to accept you, you might hear back on Thanksgiving. So you're going to be waiting what, 3 weeks? If you went complete in december, got a JS1 a week after that, and had a 4.0+180 then maybe they'll give you your JS2 the next day.jawsjawsjaws wrote:So how long do we have to wait after our interviews to hear back from Harvard? It's situational, basically, with a cluster around a 2-week-ish wait time.

Sorry. Everyone w a 169 AND high GPA. Only a handful of non URMs are admitted, and yet if you browse through lsn, seems like almost all who report this stuff got interviews.

But isn't it that once you get a JS1, even people with a 169 stand as good a chance as any others in getting a JS2? (I don't have 169 btw.) Otherwise, why give JS1? I'm just curious!Seoulless wrote:Sorry. Everyone w a 169 AND high GPA. My take is that people with 169 who get JS1 stand a good chance but not as decent as those with better grades unless they have extraordinary interview /social skills, or unique softs.musedreverie wrote:But isn't it that once you get a JS1, even people with a 169 stand as good a chance as any others in getting a JS2? Why are we talking about 169 in particular?

So, since I went complete in late September is it safe to assume I've been put in the WL or reject pile if I haven't seen a JS1, or are early completes just as likely as later completes to be a part of future JS1 waves?
