Sorry to hear that, I know it's frustrating but it is SO early in the cycle I wouldn't fret yet. I think law schools are really unsure of how this cycle is going to play out. A hold at this point just means they are waiting to see who is still going to apply.
Exhibit A:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/29/opini ... .html?_r=0
Edit: I mean, I know Case Western isn't HYS, but it is still interesting that he is writing an Op-Ed begging for people to stop attacking law schools. Obvi a reaction to a big decrease is applications last year, maybe this year has an even bigger drop?

First time poster- accepted to Georgetown today! Submitted 11/3, and my last update was 11/26, and I got my letter today. I had three (?) updates, no interview. My #'s are 163 and then 169 on retake, and 3.89 GPA.
Super happy to use my post to celebrate an acceptance!

To show how cruel the universe is, the next email I get right after the GULC hold is from
Liberty Law telling me that they're right for me.

Sent 11/5, complete 11/8, and 0 updates. Is there a reason this is happening? GPA above 75th, LSAT between the 25th and the median. I'm starting to worry...

Wow, same here =(
I'm curious as to what Georgetown considers a "small number of applicants" & I wonder if we really have a shot like the e-mail says.

"Please be aware that only a small number of early applicants have had their applications held, and a
number of those applicants in past years have subsequently been admitted."
Not vague at all...What was the point of telling us that a small number of ppl are held if it gives us no clue about our chances

I know! The physical letter said the site would be up in December...but then the follow-up email said late November. Apparently the site was up by this time last year.

Yea, I'm getting antsy. I sent my request for the FB page but haven't gotten in yet. On another note, I may have accidentally found you on FB. Weird. Internet worlds colliding.

I know, this admissions process is so cruel! On the bright side, GULC could easily have rejected me, and the fact that they held me makes me think that they really are considering my app. I don't want to wait til Feb. 28th, but it is what it is -_-

Congrats. Just wondering where do all those that were accepted live. Trying to get a good idea of when I can expect a letter (if I got one)
I live in southern West Virginia.
Also, speaking of creeper law schools, I got a call last night from a student at Michigan State trying to recruit me. I didn't even know schools went out of their way to call you unless you had applied or something. I just thought they spammed your inbox...

I'm in Southern VA, so definitely be looking for something in the mail tomorrow, but then again, this is largely just conjecture on the premise of how well the USPS can function...not exactly a sure bet

Sorry to hear you were also held. Although I'm disappointed, Georgetown is a big reach for me, so I'm happy they're still considering me. Do you plan on submitting a LOCI? I'm not sure whether it would be a good thing or not, since the e-mail says no additional information is necessary.
