lol. Figures. No $, but you can attend an open house for the most expensive grad-housing option in Gainesville. Stay classy.UMiamiCane wrote:--LinkRemoved--Do you need a place to stay while visiting the UF Levin College of Law? Re: U. of Florida c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I just checked my status checker and it shows FDNDR as of yesterday. I'm somewhat non-traditional, as I've been out of undergrad for almost 6 years now. I received a phone call from FSU today about my acceptance, but UF is my top choice, and I'm really curious to know if I should send a letter of continued interest considering my app was late in the cycle - I was hoping my feb score would be higher...it wasn't. My LSAT is right in the range (162), but my GPA is a bit low (3.17, worked my way through school, reflected on my resume).
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Admissions will take a while to get back to you as they got bombarded at the deadline and are pretty backed up. If you don't get in or are WLed, I strongly suggest retaking and applying at the beginning of the next cycle.lynzl84 wrote:I just checked my status checker and it shows FDNDR as of yesterday. Probable waitlist. Applying late is going to hurt. Retake and Reapply before November if you're set on UF and don't get an admit this cycle.lynzl84 wrote:I just checked my status checker and it shows FDNDR as of yesterday. Anyone had luck negotiating scholarships with UF? Just sent an email off to Fin. Aid in light of a higher offer from FSU.

No luck whatsoever. Been trying since December with great offers from much higher ranked schools as leverage and numbers above both medians. Plus I've been following the UF admit thread for the past two years (lame, I know) and I haven't heard of them upping an offer.Geaux12 wrote:Anyone had luck negotiating scholarships with UF? Hopefully I'll have a little more luck since they've already offered me some money. The preference for LSAT over GPA is pretty dramatic (and ridiculous, to be fair).seancris wrote:No luck whatsoever. Well it's official. Just paid my seat deposit! Now if only this dreadful semester would just end; I lost all motivation to work this semester after being admitted to UF.

How long does it usually take for UF to get a merit based scholly information out after the acceptance letter comes?

There's pretty much no chance at this point, bro. Admissions/Fin Aid said that all the scholarship would be given out by April 1 or by Mid April, depending on who you talk to.Dc2136 wrote:How long does it usually take for UF to get a merit based scholly information out after the acceptance letter comes?
The Nov. admits who got offers mostly got them in December and the Jan admits who got offers mostly got them in Feb
And unless you are a URM or have an LSAT of 164+, it's a moot point anyway.

TheWarFlamingo got her scholarship offer increased (and it's still in the thread from last year if you want to take a look). She emailed Dean Jerry directly and told him about her other offers (which were REALLY good). I doubt it will work though because she had some pretty unique scholarship offers from other schools/she was out of state.seancris wrote:No luck whatsoever. And here the only official word we have on the subject of merit-aid is that preference is granted to in-state students.LSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote:TheWarFlamingo got her scholarship offer increased. These scholarships are awarded to both fall and spring entrants, with priority given to Florida residents. Awards for entering students are based on information collected in the application for admission. No other application is required. Recipients and alternates are notified by letter.
Fall scholarship decisions are made starting in January and completed by April.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet, especially if it's information from a law school.seancris wrote:LSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote:uh... who told you that?seancris wrote:And here the only official word we have on the subject of merit-aid is that preference is granted to in-state students.--LinkRemoved--UF Law wrote:Merit-Based Scholarships

I am sure they give preference in theory to in state students but every circumstance is different.

I don't even know what this means.Dc2136 wrote:I am sure they give preference in theory to in state students but every circumstance is different.
Based on what I've seen, I am tending to think that there is actually some preference for OOS students as a means of attracting them despite OOS tuition.

Heard back today that UF does not offer any kind of stipend for ASD, amd that they don't "match" (read: negotiate) scholarships. It was worth a shot anyway.

I have been "No Decision Reached" for five months now. So awesome! I am hoping they forget about me and I can ask for my application fee back. haha not really.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
