Possibly, but this was my second time applying after being wait listed the previous cycle. (By giving this info away I probably outed myself to the Mich admissions staff, in which case all I can say is that they are hands down the best ones in the businessUnamSanctam wrote:With your LSAT, I would have felt safe, at least for this cycle.thelawyler wrote:HOLY SHIT IN THROUGH ASW. Submitted early Oct. RD. Splitter. WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Seeing as it is my second time around, I can't help but feel extremely relieved that delaying another year and reapplying ended up working out.

ScrabbleChamp wrote:I wonder how that works... That is, according to the Michigan website, you can only be considered for ED if your application is COMPLETE by 15 November. If you apply ED 10/28, but for some reason your app isn't complete by 15 November (assuming everything is with LSAC), do they just roll you into RD? A friend of mine applied ED 10/26 and still hasn't received an email notifying him of receipt or a status checker. I applied RD 11/04 and received an email today letting me know they received my file. He's a bit worried. Anyone have any insight on this?vellum wrote:Status Checker and Complete today. And here I was worried that somehow it was going to conflict with the ED deadline. What a relief
Submitted 10/20, received 10/28.
In the FAQ on the website, they strongly recommend that you send everything in before 11/01 so that you can be complete before the deadline. I remember reading about people who didn't submit until after 11/01 in the forums from earlier years, a few of them managed to be complete by the deadline anyway. If you are not complete, I believe they roll you into RD, but would probably call to inform you first.
Not getting your status checker, according to the website, doesn't mean you're not complete. It also doesn't mean you are complete, either. I think your friend should be fine. Although if they are worried, Michigan Admission office is -very- friendly and accommodating. I'm sure if your friend calls, they will be happy to help.

Submitted towards the end of October. Reallyyyyyyyyyy want Michigan... A bit of reach for my LSAT score (upper 160s) but I put a lot of effort into my app. We'll see!!! Good luck everyone...

sanetruth - Did you ever get your admissions packet? Hope so! You should be getting close to that 10 day mark right, whereby you can then contact the admissions office without feeling like a nag?
I haven't gotten mine yet, but I did tick over to Decision at some point either yesterday or today. I figure that means it should be here soon as I know they like you to find out via the snail mail packet. I just want to read my note! I feel bad for ya waiting and waiting.

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Do any of the current students that check in on this thread have an opinion on this? I know its an odd question, but do you think that by your 2nd or 3rd year that you are sufficiently free in terms of time to consider playing a Varsity sport a possibility? I have 1 year left of NCAA eligibility and I'm wondering if I insanely decided to cash that in with this very last opportunity, if that was even do-able or just total insanity given other pressures. I know Michigan has a lot of traveling involved in their conference and being a good team in my sport, I assume its probably a no-go, but its sort of a pipe dream that I have held onto. I am sure law professors would not look kindly on many missed classes so do you usually have Friday classes? Can that be worked around?
I should let go of the dream. If I end up at any Ivy, they have awful eligibility procedures to work around non-consecutive years and its hardly ever approved. At Michigan, I face the time commitment from the quality of the team/distance in the conference being problematic. Still....in the back of my mind, I'd love to get one more crack before I fully embrace my old lady status lol. Being a walk-on for a great team and playing with one last hoorah....sigh. Probably a pipe dream. Who knows if I could even get back into that kind of shape after 3 kids. It'd be so fun for them to watch mama play though, that I'm a little curious if its worth looking into....

Don't you only have 5 years from when you first competed to use your eligibility?

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hmmm....I wouldn't qualify for a 5 year window. I remember looking into it a few years back and I was still eligible. I probably forgot that rule though as I might have fit into it at the time.
Ah well...it was a pipe dream, re-ignited by stumbling on a Michigan match and reminiscing about how much fun it was. Maybe I could just more realistically help out as a grad assistant if I have time. That would still get me back into fighting form and they usually chip in to scrimmages during practices. Thanks for the info!

It took me almost two weeks to get mine, I applied 10/26 ish and just got one yesterday. From what I've seen on the thread, that's normal. When they receive your application, you'll get an e-mail from them saying to expect a status checker in a few weeks.Strange wrote:I submitted mine on the same day (11/8), don't have one eitherWhiteGuy5 wrote:Submitted 11/8, still no status checker. I competed in debate in college, and a person with a degree loses eligibility, no matter how much she would have had left otherwise. I'm surprised there's no similar rule for collegiate sports. At any rate, it would be awesome to do!MumofCad wrote:Do any of the current students that check in on this thread have an opinion on this? So, for those with status checkers you can try and log into said site and if you can get in you're admitted and should receive a packet in the mail shortly and an update to your status checker.
This is my understanding anyway.
