I think yours is a good case for calling. Especially if they publicly acknowledged that they are having problems seeing apps. I would be very surprised if they were anything but helpful. And while I do not know this for sure at all, and would bet this is different for most schools, the number they list on their admissions website is likely not answered by someone who makes admissions decisions.MumofCad wrote: Oh, its not a decision. I just applied 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten the application received email that almost all of the rest of TLS got. It just confirms they got your application. They tweeted the day I applied that they had discovered an LSAC glitch that wasn't notifying them of apps, but had fixed it. So I'm just wondering if despite the fact that LSAC says my app was sent, that it may in fact have gotten lost in no man's land. Its been about a week since the other people who applied at the same time as I did received the confirmation email....I'm not terribly worried, but I decided it was best to at least ask given that they acknowledged an issue via Twitter that day.

Ahhh, you definitely have legitimate grounds to be somewhat worried (given the tweet and all). My problem with UVA is I have all these other great app waivers that are just waiting to be sent but I don't want to spend the $16 per app to then get accepted the next day to UVA and have to withdraw them. I almost wish they wouldn't commit to the 15 days because then you're not so expectant, kind of like how surprised you were to hear back.

Sorry to hear, but I do think your odds are good at getting pulled off it. They obviously really mulled it over. Plus, I think we'll see movement once other schools start admitting too. If the apps drop alot like we suspect, they may go deeply into the WL this year.JoeMo wrote:Just got WaitlistedMumofCad wrote:Well the good news is that they are at least very seriously considering admitting you. ETA; Wait, what type of URM are you? Your numbers are really good with that URM status. Where else are you applying?

I just double checked LSN and my profile here to make sure I don't have URM status listed. I actually thought initially that I was because I'm hispanic, it ends up that only Mexican and Puerto-Rican counts... so no URM status for me. Just a good GPA and an average LSAT.MumofCad wrote: Sorry to hear, but I do think your odds are good at getting pulled off it. They obviously really mulled it over. Ahhh...that makes more sense, because your profile on here says: Ethnic minority? Yes. That's what confused me. You still have numbers that could get you into UVA, but I would be floored with them rejecting an ED URM with those numbers. I mean those are Harvard numbers for a URM, no doubt.JoeMo wrote:I just double checked LSN and my profile here to make sure I don't have URM status listed. Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I wish! Well, we'll see where I end up. This just makes the cycle longer. I'm not sure that I can wait too long for Virginia to make up their mind about me. Wherever I go, I have to uproot and move. That includes leaving my job, having my partner find a job in whatever city we're moving to, finding an apartment and all that good stuff, so I'm really not too keen on waiting until April/May to make those sort of decisions. But I do know someone just got pulled off the waitlist so perhaps mine will be equally as quick when people like you start turning them down.MumofCad wrote: Ahhh...that makes more sense, because your profile on here says: Ethnic minority? We were talking about Yale, just so there is no confusion. I was just commiserating...but I think its ylsadmissions or something like that.TheSharklord wrote:Out of curiosity, what Twitter account is being used now?MumofCad wrote:Oh, its not a decision. I wonder if there's any evidence of the "hispanic" boost. And what schools actually take that into account.Strange wrote:You're not a URM but you may still get a Hispanic boost... at least that's what I'm hoping forJoeMo wrote:I just double checked LSN and my profile here to make sure I don't have URM status listed. I would imagine it probably doesn't matter much on the east coast, or at schools like Berkeley but it probably does matter in the midwest.

For ED applicants - does your status checker denote the ED option?
Edit: Received email receipt of ED - nvm

Look on LSN at people with your numbers around your submission date last year or the year prior. That should give you a pretty clear idea.MiamiOxford wrote:Is this serious?JoeMo wrote:MarchMiamiOxford wrote:Went complete on 9/23, regular decision reach candidate... For what it's worth, I went complete at the end of November and got a decision towards the start of January. They'll do what they'll do in terms of timeline--the objective is to assemble a class, and that may mean giving some people responses faster than others, depending on how they feel about a myriad of changing circumstances.
For the time being, don't stress. Stress is over-rated, and should bereserved for OGIs avoided whenever possible.

No, I've seen where people got in after 9 days or so. However, if you get closer to 13 days, then probably yes. That's what happened to me.jumister5889 wrote:you think if the wait for EDers is more than 7 days that means ur getting WL?

Weird! I submitted my app midweek last week and just got the acknowledgement/"your application is complete" email today (I am on west coast i.e. today=Wednesday). First communication from UVA since I submitted. So I don't think we can say they are universally quick. Or , they are... and they just took like 5 days off from being quick? That's awesome for you guys though that you didn't have to waitFryBreadPower wrote:Ditto. Submitted UVA two days after Columbia and UVA just got back to me with Status Checker email.
