Never underestimate the power of the media, man. I must admit that I became a lot more fascinated with Philly after reading "The Corrections". That restaurant-in-the-warehouse idea seemed really hip and cool.

One of my FAVORITE books! Also one of the main reasons I even thought about applying to Penn in spite of what The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air taught me

I am not happy if this means I have to wait another day or 2. I can barely concentrate on studying for my one final as it is.

Yes, our first final exam was delayed for over an hour because of the power outage. Second, Dean Post was helping with administering the exams. So I think today doesn't look like a day for decisions. Our internal server is not even back up yet.

Having never been to Philly, I was trying to figure out why I had such a negative view of the city as well. You've helped me figure it out.

Eh, the horror stories of Eagles fans aren't really true IMO, at least not since the Linc opened. Yeah, people were assholes at the Vet, but the Vet was just a horrible place in general.

Also, FWIW the Penn ITS twitter says they're installing the replacement part they need around 930 EST tonight, so hopefully their systems will be fully back online by tomorrow and they can give more decisions. Or so I hope.

Yes, but I can't imagine it not adversely affecting your file. (From what I understand, you're not locked to matriculate under ED until they make a decision to accept you.)

Thanks. My app being hurt is understood and expected. I got into Cornell yesterday, so now I'm having some second thoughts about probably paying sticker at penn when I could potentially get a scholarship at Cornell..

Some people in the past have done so (withdraw and asked to be reviewed under RD) and not been adversely affected.
