Just received an email that I am an alternate.....What does that mean? Is it like a waiting list for a scholy.

What does it mean if we are part of the scholly forgotten? Part of the first group, but haven't heard back up or down.

Just curious.....How did you respond to the initial email? I got the "second round" email and was told to respond by March 4. I basically wrote a LOCI explaining why I am so dependent on a merit scholarship and that GULC is my top choice. I included that I had got significant ($$$$) scholy's from UCLA and GW......................And what did I get back...... "Alternate"???

Not sure whether to look at it that I am not "good enough" for an initial scholy or that being that I was only admitted in late Feb and was part of the second batch, they are already running low on $$$$ and they are being super selective.

I thought GULC took other school's offers very seriously.......guess not.......They didn't bite on my UCLA offer. i thought they would. I see other people have mentioned sending in their actual scholarship offer letters from other schools. Would they take me for my word even if I didn't send them my UCLA scholy letter?

Actually, GULC is stingier than most schools and from what I understand LESS likely to match or respond to other offers, especially to schools it does not consider peer (and no, I don't think G-town sees UCLA as a true peer; nor GW). Duke and Michigan will almost always offer more than GULC and I don't believe GULC usually makes much of an effort to match them (oh, they might throw something on the table, but it's unlikely to be a full match).

Georgetown undergrad was extremely stingy with scholly money. They had a small endowment at the time I was applied to college (and they waitlisted me for undergrad, btw)

I'm a scholarship alternate as well. They say we are to hear back the week following the deadline for initial offers of 4/7.

I applied for the PILS scholarship. I'm hoping that the reason I haven't heard yet, is that they aren't giving the scholarship out to PILS applicants until they know the result of the PILS process?

I find it highly unlikely. It seems the stars are aligning for me to end up at Michigan.

Got the same email, but they urged me to apply for fin aid, which I'll be waiting to see about.
