Re: IOWA 2011
I will add that the library is amazing, and that Dean Agrawal was very friendly and very forthright about her mission for the school, which I found refreshing. Also, financial aid people are super approachable and willing to talk about your specific needs. They really want to make Iowa welcoming.tea_drinker wrote:I think it was good. I like Dean Agrawal's speech on how students shouldn't come to Iowa expecting every of them will get a $150K job right after graduation. Few people I talked to think it would be cool if we could sit in a class on either day. But even without it, they did enjoy their time there. I left early though, so I didn't take a tour of the school or hear the closing remarks. Anything interested?chrisbru wrote:Anyone go to ASW and have any commentary?

Dean Agrawal will be really good for the school, I feel. The tour was nice (it's always good to see the building) but dragged on pretty long. All in all, I really enjoyed the visit... But more so to get to know some of the potential and some of the committed incoming class of 2014.

This thread is only on page 38? Dang. If I am going to be attending there in the fall then this thread is going to need to pick up the pace

Heyo. This thread needed a bump. What are everyone's summer plans / when are people moving to IC if you aren't already living there. Also, anyone have living suggestions apart from Chris's house?

If you have a pet, do not go to Dolphin Lake Point for an apartment. Not for anything. It is super sketchy. I have had success in Coralville and North Liberty (but it's obviously easier if you do not have a dog). Moving at the beginning of August to Iowa City from Texas, so that should be a fun drive.typ3 wrote:Heyo. This thread needed a bump. April 1st, $250. And I believe its received by the 1st, not sent. I paid online, but you need an ID/password to log in, which I couldn't find anywhere, so I had to call.THB wrote:Is the first seat deposit due April 1st or April 15th for Iowa???

Could you use Visa / Echeck or is it mastercard / discover only?

Visa also. Wish they took American Express though. First is due April 1 ($250), second ($150) is due June 1st I believe.
I 2nd that we need to bump this thread up. Anyone got any good discussion topics? How do you think our football team will be this fall?

On a more positive note, the law school puts on a great tailgate spread before each home game. They usually serve brats, burgers, and all of the necessary accoutrement.

GTFO! Ps - I "met" you briefly as you were headed out to give a tour on Friday.
I didn't know the law school put on a tailgate. That's pretty awesome.

... At least the Hakeyes have a chance of beating UNL, unlike when I used to watch them crush my alma matter every year. The big 12 north says good riddance.

They have a chance, but not this year. Their off season screwed the hawkeyes. I plan on attending the Hawk games in IC but watching the Huskers at night or whenever the hawks aren't playing. When they both play on the day after thanksgiving this year I am definitely cheering for the Huskers. I have a feeling that the huskers are going to roll the hawkeyes this year.

Who's all getting season tickets?
I fully plan on coming back from family Thanksgiving early for the Hawks/Huskers game.

Get tickets early. They went pretty quickly last year although a number of 1L's scored 'em. You just have to be on notice as to when they are available to incoming students. Who knows what demand will be like, though...chrisbru wrote:Who's all getting season tickets?

As for gameday, it's a PITA to get around anywhere, especially the law school as it's right in the thick of things (the law building parking lot is used for raucous tailgating) but it's pretty cool to be amongst the multitudes. It really is a great atmosphere.
I'm from Lincoln, however, and will certainly be going home for Thanksgiving and will do everything I can do to get myself into Memorial Stadium for "Farmageddon". Tickets are already getting expensive...good thing my grandpa has season tickets and knows lots of other people w/ season tickets

Also, chris, nice meeting you! You coming for sure?

Got hit with the preliminary waitlist today. Not really surprised. Going to send my LOCI tonight seeing as seat deposits are due this week.

This thread is still sputtering.. So, on a different note.. who besides Chris wants to be in my study group? It will be full of beer, b****es, and top 5% students.
Also, is anyone interested in a summer TLS meet up in Boji? I can bed some people for a weekend. Wouldn't mind stumbling around gull point in a stupor before law school.
