Any march ASWers hear all the admins say how oversubscribed the MArch ASw was? There's no reason to think all of a sudden everyone went for the march one. This entire cycle people have been saying hls is "behind" but it was packed.

I may have missed it, but I was under the impression that HLS is actually ahead, or at least similar compared to last year. At least from LSN.

Re drawstring: they could be oversubscribed but still proportional if the usual proportion of an unusually high volume of admits to date went to March. Dean minow said apps are up and ppl at various events just randomly remarked at how packed it was relative to last year, and not in a "what a joy to see everyone here" kinda way. Also they had to add more class visits than originally planned

If they had admitted more applicants than usual I would've thought they'd account for that when arranging the ASW.

The way you described it makes it seem like they made ad-hoc additions (you said they weren't originally planned) based on larger than expected registration rather than planning them well ahead because they were aware they'd admitted more people and thus more would attend.

Maybe they have admitted far more than usual and it's bad news for those still waiting. Neither of us can say just based on ASW being packed.

LS posted data a while back indicating that acceptances were fairly similar but that far more had been rejected this cycle than at the same point last cycle.

Yeah, jeez guys, no need for everyone to get so worked up over a data point that has a perhaps small, but likely very, very insignificant bearing on whether you all get into HLS.

also consider that Y and S take about 200 applicants each, many of whom are H cross admits, and 40-50 Ruby and Hamiltons combined each year.

The 850 should already take all that into account considering that the entering class is usually 500 something people. Also i've always been under the impression that most Ruby/Hamilton people actually end up choosing HYS. Looking through the Ruby thread from last year, most of the posters declined the scholarship.

I didn't send in any additional materials such as an addendum and diversity statement,
since my personal statement was already about my diversity aspect.

Do you guys think it is reasonable to send in additional materials since I feel like I'm being
held at Harvard? Like... Why Harvard essay, or a diversity statement?

Wait until you get waitlisted (unless you get in, obvi!)

I'm in the same boat. I really think it's just about being patient. My guess (with absolutely no evidence or support) is that they've read our applications and didn't vote to reject, but haven't decided if we're worth interviews yet.

I just want to say that there's only about a month longer until a decision is guaranteed. While it will mean even more waiting for a number of us (WL), it will be nice to hear something.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I had a few friends who applied in the 2012 cycle who didn't hear back that they were wait listed until mid-May. I wouldn't put it past Harvard to do something like that this cycle too given how long things are taking. I hope I'm wrong and JS is congratulating all of us very soon!

It may have been different last year. A blog post from January states that:

You will receive notification as soon as we reach a decision and everyone who applies by the application deadline will hear from us no later than mid-April (at
that time, we will offer some people a spot on our waiting list).
