IIRC according to WUSTL, you cannot be deposited at more than one school after June 1st.

They played it smart and went after the 166 mark early. Some schools I feel like tried to go after 167 and now are going to be screwed (Minnesota) though I could be wrong.
I actually don't know what you would argue would be the better strategy. As you go down in points the pool is larger- they knew there would be plenty of 165s.
Nice, thanks for the replies. That meshes with what I was thinking. 166 seems like it is the most likely result. 167 would be cool, but somewhat unlikely. I really doubt the school would let it hit 165 because there are enough 166's to potentially throw full rides at if the school really went into panic mode.

You are probably already aware of it, but Wash U has a pretty cool DC Clinic you can take advantage of your 3L year. Although I will admit it's a little ridiculous that one has to pay the law school full tuition while interning for free, the clinic can be a good way to (a) get some relevant DC / fedgov experience if you get biglaw through OCI but want to diversify your resume, or (b) as a job seeking / networking hail mary if you miss the OCI boat but still want to find a way to work in DC.Dream Weave wrote:You made a fantastic decision. D.C. is tied with Illinois as the second most popular destination for WashU grads. Yes it's not GW, GULC, or T14 status, but most T30 schools manage to place some kids in D.C. every year. So there's some hopeLawSchoolAFROBarbie wrote:just withdrew from american.......good riddance? still having dc dreams but i hope st. louis will kill all that by september.

According to admissions there is a bus tour on 6/20 to look at apartments. Is anybody doing this? I feel uncomfortable only using the internet to find a place, because pictures can tell a thousand words (but sometimes they are all bull shit).

I know a few people who did this and they found it pretty helpful. If you can afford to do so, I think I would recommend it.jdmonkey wrote:According to admissions there is a bus tour on 6/20 to look at apartments. Is anybody doing this? I thought my cycle was over and I was set to go to WUSTL and move to St Louis. But USC just came at me off the WL. I'm probably going to get a bias response, but what would you guys do?

I've enjoyed WUSTL, and that's a pretty good scholarship. Also, and this is my opinion, USC is straight up dangerous and LA is not a great city.JesusChrist wrote:I thought my cycle was over and I was set to go to WUSTL and move to St Louis. USC has ~37% Biglaw + Fed vs 26% at WUSTL. But mostly, where do you want to live and what kind of work do you want to do? If you are biglaw or bust and don't care where, or want the west coast, USC is the obvious choice. But if you don't want Cali - USC sent 8 kids to NY out of ~221, and their next biggest market was Nevada with 2.

You're from Cali right? If you wanna stay then USC hands down. If you want to maximize chances at BigLaw regardless of location then USC. if you want to minimize debt then WUSTLJesusChrist wrote:I thought my cycle was over and I was set to go to WUSTL and move to St Louis. I'd wager it means that employers in Chicago, Houston, St Louis, Detroit, etc have a real hard time believing you want to work there after going to USC.hoos89 wrote:I'd be willing to be that a lot of that is self-selection, though. Tough to say what those numbers really mean.Randomnumbers wrote:USC has ~37% Biglaw + Fed vs 26% at WUSTL. But mostly, where do you want to live and what kind of work do you want to do? If this kid is from Cali and he wants to go back to Cali, it's immaterial - USC is the obvious and only choice. But if he wants to be somewhere else, I'd check to see who actually does OCI at USC. If after NY they are only placing 2 people at most in a state, I can't imagine many out of state offices/firms are recruiting there. (And yeah - Mass mail, mass mail, mass mail - but it can't be all self selection.)

You're ignoring that girl that got kidnapped at knife-point and forced to go drive herself to an ATM out of the parking garage 20 feet from our building in the first week of the semester? Or the girl that got shot and killed at Euclid and Maryland (One of the safest areas of the city) in broad daylight right before our orientation? I couldn't tell you one thing about USC law, other than U stands for University. But I wouldn't go painting St. Louis as some saint city.goldeneye wrote:I've enjoyed WUSTL, and that's a pretty good scholarship. That said, I have never once felt at all unsafe around Wash U, and have been harassed once since moving to St. Louis. I'm a decently big enough (6' 175lb athletic built guy) to pass muster for not to be messed with on a day to day basis. But I know a few who have been.
And to answer the question, depends on where you want to work after graduation. If it's in Cali, Oregon or Washington State, or a state that touches one of those states, then go to USC. Any other state, then probably Wash U.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
