Seems like they haven't sent out acceptances in a while. Maybe they're waiting til their app deadline..?

i would assume so. then another 2 weeks or so to sort through the last minute apps then they'll get a picture of the entire pool.msch0i wrote:Seems like they haven't sent out acceptances in a while. Maybe they're waiting til their app deadline..?

Do admitted people get scholarship offers? I'd be surprised - but elated - if Hastings had any money to give away.a male human wrote:Do waitlisted people ever get scholarship offers?

Re: UC Hastings 2010!!!
Did anyone else get an e-mail asking them to fill out a "Need Access" form? It appears to be a privately-operated version of the FAFSA.
Does Hastings not accept the FAFSA? Is this worth filling out if I'm 90% sure I'm not going?

I think many other schools also require the Need Access form. But if you're not in the financial situation to receive need-based grants,(e.g., have a savings of over $5k, according to a Hastings student who posted previously) I wouldn't bother.j.wellington wrote:Did anyone else get an e-mail asking them to fill out a "Need Access" form? Re: UC Hastings 2010!!!
I was just estimating on the $5k thing. The exact words from Hastings finaid: "grants are for those with 'close to nothing' in savings" (plus UG debt).msch0i wrote:I think many other schools also require the Need Access form. Cool, thanks guys. I haven't come across another school asking for it so I was a little confused. Sounds like I don't qualify anyway.

it's $30 and a pain in the ass. Unless you have other schools that need it (quiet a few use it) then no.j.wellington wrote:Did anyone else get an e-mail asking them to fill out a "Need Access" form? It appears to be a privately-operated version of the FAFSA.

Hey, I just got an email from the Fin Aid office saying my app is incomplete because I didn't register for selective service...I went to the selective service website and it doesn't look like I need to register seeing as how I am a lady.
I tried calling the office but no one answered. Any advice?

I don't think so...I looked over both forms about a million times before I sent them in. I'm a little worried because I think the priority deadline is Monday.Borhas wrote:did you accidentally check Male anywhere?

Anybody?beef wellington wrote:Can anyone tell me about the PICAP? The policy says it's not guaranteed, which worries me, especially with UC's budget problems. Have they ever come up short?
I went ahead and applied yesterday out of paranoia I won't make it off any of my waitlists. And if that PICAP is indeed semi-guaranteed then I'm pretty sure I'd take it over UMN.

If your FAFSA went through and you got your EFC number then it's probably Hastings bureaucrats being dumb. I think you'll still have Monday to call them and straighten it out.meddlingkid wrote:I don't think so...I looked over both forms about a million times before I sent them in. I googled it fairly extensively when I first saw your post, but I didn't really find any alumni's thoughts on it, which is what would really help answer your question.beef wellington wrote:Anybody?beef wellington wrote:Can anyone tell me about the PICAP? Thanks Borhas. I think I'll be visiting soon so I'll prolly just ask them myself. Anybody wanna weigh in on my chances applying right at the deadline?Borhas wrote:I googled it fairly extensively when I first saw your post, but I didn't really find any alumni's thoughts on it, which is what would really help answer your question.beef wellington wrote:Anybody?beef wellington wrote:Can anyone tell me about the PICAP? I think Hastings has had fewer applications this year than last year, so they may still want to admit more people. I think your numbers give you an excellent chance, though you may get WLed. Make sure your PS has something about why Hastings works for you so they don't YP you.

Re: UC Hastings 2010!!!
Ha, too late for that. Hopefully my applying this late in the cycle is a strong indicator that I don't have any better offers so they don't need to worry too much about YP. Also doesn't look like they YP too many splitters judging by LSN. Definitely wouldn't be shocked by an old-fashioned WL though.Borhas wrote:I think Hastings has had fewer applications this year than last year, so they may still want to admit more people. Does Hastings expect you to have your 2009 taxes done before financial aid decisions are made? Ain't gonna happen with me....
And they sure are sticklers about California residency and having to explain two addresses, absences from the state..
