That's exactly how I got accepted last year. They don't ask you to call just to reject you over the phone.eas331 wrote:Hi,
I got an e-mail this afternoon from Jason Dugas with "From Virginia Law" in the subject line. He said he wanted to follow up on my application and I should give him a call.
Is this what people have been getting before they hear they're accepted? I didn't get the message until after business hours, and I'll call tomorrow, but I'm just wondering how high to get my hopes at this stage. Are people being asked to call for other reasons?

I'd hope not! I just wondered if there might be follow-up questions or an interview or something. Well, I'll find out tomorrow!vanwinkle wrote:

Usually if something's missing they tell you in the E-mail, I think. "We have not received your required blah blah blah". Or the status checker just never moves to complete.eas331 wrote:I'd hope not! I haven't been in this thread much. Is it weird that I feel more optimistic about getting into the higher-ranked NYU and Michigan than about getting into UVA?

No, UVA YPs more than the other two, at least for out-of-staters. (Just repeating what I've heard elsewhere).LieutKaffee wrote:I haven't been in this thread much. Is it weird that I feel more optimistic about getting into the higher-ranked NYU and Michigan than about getting into UVA?

I'm also Pending Review. Been that way since 11/12. So, if it's a consolation, you'll probably hear before I do.5ky wrote:clint4law wrote:Current Status: File Complete, Pending Review/Decision

Re: UVA 2010, RD
hey guys - since you all seem to know alot about UVA's admission process, I was wondering if you thought i had ANY shot of getting in for next year. I went to UVA for undergrad, and my dad got a joint JD/MBA from UVA, but my GPA and LSat are below the medians:
GPA: 3.3 (from UVA)
Lsat: 169
I think I have a pretty good essay, I've been out of school for 4 years and have worked in environmental non-profits since graduating ( i want to study environmental law)
THanks for any input! I'm going to apply no matter what, but right now I don't think i have a shot in he!! of getting in :/

Today's update: I'm in! Very nice phone conversation with Jason Dugas, who commented specifically on my personal statement and other info in my app.eas331 wrote:Hi,

Pending review/decision 11/9, updated 12/6 (yes, a Sunday).
Good luck to those still waiting!
edit: I'm out of state.

no, if you hit a 170 maybe, WL/in, but your pushing it with the "In" part.laureng05 wrote:Yes.xcountryjunkie wrote:Are you in-state?laureng05 wrote:hey guys - since you all seem to know alot about UVA's admission process, I was wondering if you thought i had ANY shot of getting in for next year. I suggest you ED to give youreslf a shot, but don't expect anything.
If you applied earlier in the year (as in sept) maybe you would have had a better chance.

Re: UVA 2010, RD
agree, there is a distinct advantage to applying early at UVA and being a resident... you can try this year, but you'd have better luck going early next year. ED could help this year, but you have 6 days to get it together.avacado111 wrote:no, if you hit a 170 maybe, WL/in, but your pushing it with the "In" part.laureng05 wrote:Yes.xcountryjunkie wrote:Are you in-state?laureng05 wrote:hey guys - since you all seem to know alot about UVA's admission process, I was wondering if you thought i had ANY shot of getting in for next year. @eas331: congrats!!! when you say "updated", do you mean just the date was updated, or were you given a new status?
I submitted later than you (11/23) but my status date changed 12/6.

Haha alright, point taken... but I've got to ask, did anyone else's status checker update to today's date? I've been pending review/decision since 10/20 and it just changed to 12/9. I know it probably doesn't mean anything but it was still nice to see some movement!hopefulundergrad wrote:PEOPLE DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR UVA STATUS CHECKER.
