Do you guys know of anyone, in the past few years, getting their TS1 before Nov 20th and ultimately getting rejected?

so i actually did some digging on this (on a very slow day at work). went through every single person on lsn who applied to harvard last year. of those who actually listed they had a ts1 before thanksgiving, 100% were accepted.

now, that obviously doesn't mean that 100% of the entire universe of people who got ts1's before thanksgiving got ts2's... but it's at worst a positive sign for those of us who have already had jr1's.

(in other words: i am pondering changing my (actual, legal) name to "fingers crossed")

you all are making me sooo nervous- JR1 7-10 days after you went under review, that's intense.

I went under review 11/02, so it's been 15 days. Do you guys think all hope is lost or am I still within a good time span????

He is also at HLS where everyone he talks to meets the condition that they were accepted... hahaha

just playing with you , hopefully this means a much higher acceptance rate for pre-Thanksgiving JR1

if you poke around on the admissions website you'll find a blog post from JR saying that phone interviews continue all spring. unclear to me whether these are only from apps submitted later or whether you've got a shot having gone under review relatively early...but i doubt all hope is lost. fingers crossed and good luck!

one thing to keep in mind is that this year the pace of the interviews is a little different from last year. based on lsn and tls, last year there were no ts1's the thursay and friday of the week before the week of thanksgiving (the equivalent of this thurs and friday), and then no ts1's until the next tues and wed, which were the days that the first two groups of ts2's went out.

the first group was comprised of only people who applied before the oct 08 lsat scores came out. their ts1's were sporadic, going through october into the first week of november, as were the jr1's of this year's equivalent group. this group last year got ts2's on the tuesday before thaknsgiving.

the second group was those people who applied after the oct 08 lsat scores came out but went complete before the second week of november. their ts1's were all 11/10-11/19, as far as i can tell. this group got ts2's the day before thanksgiving.

I went under review 11/03 and have heard nothing. But I have extremely marginal stats, so take that as you will.

I certainly wouldn't say we're in a "good" time-span, but since I haven't gotten my complete email either, I'm holding out slight hope.

Yeah I haven't received a complete e-mail either.. so based on your post I take that as a good sign?

Interesting. I really hope I get my decision the day before thanksgiving, but I could see it being delayed until december 8th which seems to be the next big batch.

my JR1 went just over 6 minutes. seemed like we'd barely started talking when it ended. other than it seeming so short, i think it went pretty well. of course, it's what he thinks and not what i think that matters, so we'll see.

so to clarify, does "under review" on the status checker really mean "complete" and the complete email often means you're actually being reviewed (or are already under review)? or have i misunderstood something?

My experience was that under review on the status checker actually meant what it said. I didn't get a complete email until after my JR1.

I'm pretty sure we've established that the timing of complete emails and JR1s varies by application date. I submitted my application on 9/15, got my complete email on 9/29, but didn't get my JR1 email until 10/26. People who submitted in October, however, often got their JR1 emails and complete emails simultaneously, and a select few even got JR1s before getting their complete emails.

wait so how is the pace of this yr really off? i mean i know its give or take a day or two, but has the 'pacing' itself been noticeably different?

How big was the sample size?

Doesn't matter. The sample is probably biased.

What's a ts1 and ts2? My interview (jr1) is scheduled for tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed!

Same: 6 minutes 18 seconds. I'm not overly concerned about the length of the interview. I stuttered a little bit (nerves), but the content of what I said was fine.

I also asked if they've seen a huge increase in applicants. He said although it's still early in the cycle, so far there's definitely been an increase but nothing crazy or apocalyptic.
