Oh yeah, GO NOLES!
EDIT: Good luck to everyone still on hold.
I'm absolutely shocked...seriously.
It's all good. I thought I would be an auto-admit, but apparently they had other plans. I'm headed to Illinois in the fall, so I can't complain.
Another thing, my "garbage" team won more than 6 games last year. San Fran in 09.

Did they make a mistake? I got in with 12 less points on the lsat then you. And a GPA bearly higher.

Just curious if you were on hold befor being rejected? Also when and how did they reject you--snail mail or via email...?
No hold, just outright reject. And it came via snail mail (came back from Illinois Admitted Students Day to thin envelopes from Miami, George Mason, and Emory).

Numbers? I'm trying to get off hold with a 160/2.6.

Is it worth it? Could you go to Miami law and go into big law in Miami right away? I am still a little lost on Miami. I am not sure if it underrated or garbage.
they almost beat UF in biglaw due to their location so yes i think it's possible (assuming you are top 10% and all that stuff)
So why are they rated in the 80s? It would seem to should be ranked around in the 40s/50s along with Florida and FSU.
ehhh i heard it mostly has to do with the fact their selectivity isn't as great as FSU/UF's but they were in the 60's before they got nailed with a big drop off. they're trying to get that back up though

No clue. I want to call and ask, but I don't want to seem entitled. I would like to know why I didn't get in, but I'm pretty sure they are really busy during April. Do you think it's worth a phone call?

The worst that could happen is they could get really pissed off. Since they rejected you already (don't know why), you don't really have anything to lose. Doesn't mean you should be an asshole about it or anything of course.

I got a letter today from Miami confirming that I had withdrawn my application. I thought this was a waste of paper and a waste of resources to send it through the USPS. An email would've been sufficient.

Wait, isn't that a great reason to be an asshole?

Is anyone planning on paying full cost for Miami this fall? It would seem this is a bad idea and I find it ridiculous they apparently ran out of money in December. I like Miami and wouldn't mind living/working there but it seems like a big tab to pay, especially given that my numbers earlier in the cycle typically received large scholarships.

So is a scholarship different from FASFA? I thought they give you money after you file it. I just filed it.
If i have to pay sticker i hope i get into Wisconsin or Cardozo. I prefer Miami over both but sticker seems like a bad idea.

Yeah, I got the letter last month. It's basically a two week seminar that gets you ready and familiar with Miami's law classes. I'm slowly preparing the required essays. And no, I dont think everyone got this.

So is the summer institute a prereq. for enrollment in the fall...? Also how did it come about were you on hold before the summer program letter---etc.? Is it for those whose scores were slightly lower..? And just curious what essays does it entail that you said you are presently working on?
Just curious what it entails and if it offers another chance at hope...

No, it's not a prereq...you dont have to go if you dont want to. I wasnt on hold...I was accepted after 1 week going complete with $60k scholly, and weirdly enough I got the letter about the institute 2 days before I received the acceptance email...so I was confused for a second...but anyways, I think maybe its for those with diverse backgrounds because the essays are about how you've contributed to social change and your and economic background.
Actually, I think anyone accepted to UM can apply. You can download the application off the website. But maybe because I'm a URM and have contributed to my community is why they sent it to me. Just my thoughts. I really have no idea.
But as far as your chances at getting in, I'm hoping that after the April 15th seat dep deadline, seats will open up (I'm hoping this is true so I can get into other schools I still have yet to hear from!) Keep hope alive!!

Contributes to UM law school specifically or UM? That might make a difference...hmm...maybe he/she can bribe the law school...(ie "I usually make hefty contributions to UM in general...but I might slide the funds directly to the law school if _______ is admitted.") Lol...It might work!

I got the letter. I got a 158 too. They are asking a hell of a lot to apply for the school. I don't keep my graded papers. And they are asking for two essays.

I was going to apply when they said that all participants would receive a full tuition scholarship but then decided against it when I found out the scholarship is only to cover the costs of the Summer Program. Also, it said to only apply if I was deadset on attending UM, which I am not yet. Sounds like a good program to do but the work required to apply seems very big. Two five page essays, a list of classes in which I did long papers, an example of such papers and other required short responses. Good luck to those who get in. 15 people will be admitted
The program is designed to include a lot of diversity so the committee for the program sent out invitations to apply to people based on:
1. Ethnicity
2. Home state/town
3. Educational record
4. Major
5. Community Service Record
6. Other associated things
Really, they sent out letters to random people. Not to mention, I got mine on Saturday so a lot of you might be getting the letter soon anyways.

Roommate called to say that there's a letter from UM at the house. I was on hold. Seems like those who got in got an e-mail first, so it can't be good news....
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
