Has anyone filled out the scholarship reconsideration form? If so how long did it take to get notified of the reconsideration?

I have no idea what I'm looking at with the FinAid site that got e-mailed out yesterday.
It's showing I'm still paying non-resident tuition despite getting the tuition exemption waiver last month. I guess the site takes a while to update? Thinking about calling the FinAid office over there just to get a better idea of how to navigate it, but would rather not bother them with something so mundane.

Mine also shows non resident, but includes the difference in the amount of "other scholarships" on my shopping sheet. The waiver doesn't actually put you in the resident category, just gives you that amount of extra scholly.Gitaroo_Dude wrote:I have no idea what I'm looking at with the FinAid site that got e-mailed out yesterday.

Is this found in the "status check" link for admitted students?poptart123 wrote:Select the Year. Go to Status/Requirements. Click "View My Shopping Sheet." I got about 1/3 of my total aid from state grants. Still low for what I expected from UT, though.Torres1893 wrote:I just got an email too. I was kind of hoping for more for need aid, but I'll take what I can get. Did you see your merit award on there as well? I don't see mine.poptart123 wrote:Just got a second financial award information email from UT. I got a merit award, but this second notification which prompted me to see my award posted to my UT account also let me know I got some grants from the State of Texas, FWIW.

Confirmed with the financial aid that this is the correct way to read the in-state tuition deal.govlife wrote:Mine also shows non resident, but includes the difference in the amount of "other scholarships" on my shopping sheet. Got offered nil and out of state tuition. Very bummed about that but hoping to negotiate up.

Don't have much light to shed on whether it locks you in, but do have a question. Were you able to find the date to accept it by? I didn't see it on first look, so I'm unsure when I need to accept.pleasesendhelp wrote:Got offered nil and out of state tuition. Very bummed about that but hoping to negotiate up.

So can we submit the reconsideration form after April 1?
I see that we have 5 days to accept if they get back to us around that date, but nothing about whether or not we can ask after the 3/31 deadline to accept a reconsidered offer.
My scholly offer doesn't have a date on it to accept otherwise, the only limiter is what is stated on the reconsideration form
perhaps this is a question for the fin aid staff directly.

I haven't seen if it's the same form or if there are new stipulations, but I submitted mine in May of last year.gargleblaster wrote:So can we submit the reconsideration form after April 1?

"You must activate your FAN within 21 days of receipt.* Failure to do so could result in the cancellation of your financial aid offer, including grants and Federal Work-Study funds.
*Newly admitted freshmen have until May 6 to activate their FAN, regardless of date of receipt."
But no mention of any binding agreements by accepting. There is mention on the FAQ that changes can be made afterwards, but doesn't seem clear enough for me. Shot them an email in the meantime in case no one knows for sure.

On their FAQ page lmao. I didn't know until I checked immediately after sending an email to the finaid office.poptart123 wrote:

If only financial aid was better at answering questions but I think it's kinda universal thing.poptart123 wrote:Awesome. Thanks again. I'm curious about the binding nature too. Anyone know about UT's internal scholarships? Like they have one for women interested in promoting women in law. The financial aid office and one of the deans somehow both sidestepped my question -_-

Thoughts on sending an unsolicited LOCI? Had my application submitted back in Nov., but it wasn't complete until January 4th due to LSAT scores. I'm a in state applicant and a URM (MA) with both GPA and LSAT just under 50th percentiles. Starting to sweat due to the lack of response.

Okay, has anyone had success getting some scholarship/aid after negotiations? I was offered nothing from UT, but I have sizeable-ish offers from Vandy, WUSTL, and USC. I'm visiting at the end of the month to see if I want to engage in negotiations. Does anyone think these would give me a shot to getting SOMETHING? Like at least 45k?

I'm in a super similar situation. Just got offer of $0 this Monday, sent renegotiation on Tuesday with both LOTS of money from WUSTL and a decent offer from a top 10. Curious if anyone has experience, or even a sense of when they might answer!ray.bee wrote:Okay, has anyone had success getting some scholarship/aid after negotiations? I've read this entire thread, and asked people at ASW, and asked the fin aid ppl. As far as I know you're the first to submit a reconsideration request.Username93 wrote:I'm in a super similar situation.
