On paper, acceptances are through snailmail. But in recent cycles, ppl got emails letting them know. I believe emails are for rejections too.katthegreat11 wrote:So the what to expect when you're expecting isn't super clear to me about Columbia... are we expecting emails or snail mail for acceptances?

It's unclear because they're unclear lol. I'll update it once I know more. No one's been accepted yet so I can't know for sure.

I've been chill this whole time.... I never said you were calling me out (wouldn't care if you were). I was just explaining why it's written like that, which is one of the answers you got: They say snail mail but last cycle, people also reported getting emails.katthegreat11 wrote:Chill man, not calling you out haha just asking if anyone knows anything not in the thread. Sorry, you just sounded defensive. I understand why it's written like that, and I understand no one knows for sure, I'm just asking if anyone had more information based on how ED acceptances went out.brinicolec wrote:I've been chill this whole time.... haha I saw that in the other thread, sorry, I don't use it intending to assign gender to the person (as counter-intuitive as that sounds), it just feels weird to write "chill woman"brinicolec wrote:R. As far as I know, all the ED acceptances were through email. That's how mine came.

How much do we think the interviews matter for Columbia? Maybe it's my crippling anxiety talking, but I just have this nagging feeling that I totally messed up the interview? Like it was fine and pleasant, but I didn't feel like I clicked with the interviewer.
(mostly because I asked literally stupid questions when it came time to asking questions and I ended the interview because I thought it was a strict 20 minutes and good lord I'm definitely getting waitlisted aren't I?)

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
Long time listener, first time caller.
I just had an interview and it was basically as everyone else has described - laid back, fairly typical, plenty of time for your own questions at the end, overall a very pleasant experience. I wanted to send my interviewer a thank you note cause why not, doesn't seem like it could hurt? And I was told to follow up with any questions via email which they said should be visible through their skype info. I was unable to find their email there and the Columbia law website does not seem to be particularly helpful either. Does anyone know of a page where one can see the contact info of the Columbia admissions officers/does anybody know the general formula that columbia uses for its emails considering I know the person's full name and could just plug it in there (first letter of first name full last name @law.columbia.edu or whatever else it may be?).
Thank you so much for your help!

IIRC, earlier ITT someone said the admissions office suggested sending it to the admissions email with an indication of who it is meant for, and they could forward it on.lawnilawdmann wrote:Long time listener, first time caller.

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
I had the same problem and earlier in the thread someone posted that they sent their thank you email to admissions@law.columbia.edu and addressed it their interviewer and later received confirmation of the receipt of the email. So I did the same, but I have not received and confirmation. But that was the best I could have done, so you can try that too if you want.lawnilawdmann wrote:Long time listener, first time caller.

if you don't specify, as poster above suggests, they'll take whatever you send and add it to your file as a "Letter of Continued Interest"

Go to the main Columbia website - Columbia.edu and type their name into the search bar. Hit enter and their email should be on the right hand panel.lawnilawdmann wrote:Long time listener, first time caller.

You can search the interviewer's name on their website, that's how I found mine. And it was first letter of first name and last name @law.columbia.edu.lawnilawdmann wrote:Long time listener, first time caller.

So, for example, if your interviewer was Barack Obama, the email would be: bobama@law.columbia.edu
Hope that helps!

My interviewer actually had an email like barack.obama@law.columbia.edu so that may not be that way for everyone, just a word of caution.renegaderoop wrote:You can search the interviewer's name on their website, that's how I found mine. I just realize that I sent the thank you email to admissions@law.columbia.edu and didn't get a reply. Does that mean that they might have ignored my thank-you note?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
