Thanks!! I guess I'll have to be more patient then loldj7 wrote:I didn't write a Why UVA letter. My application is at UR2 (submitted about two weeks ago) now but there is no interview request yet. Just realized UVA has this huge yp thing... wondering whether it might be a good idea to email them a why UVA over the weekend?!dj7 wrote:Yeah it was just an additional letter in the envelope. Thank you!! Looks like they're pretty fast, hope I'll get there soondddddd90 wrote:Submitted 10/21, RD complete soon thereafter, interview offer 11/16, admitted at the end of the interview today (11/18)cathy95 wrote: Thanks a lot for the info! Didn't do enough research before submitting the app, but I do like UVA a lot so hopefully an extra why essay won't be counterproductive in any way...also hopefully I do get to interview eventually
Also if you don't mind sharing—when did you apply and what was the timeline like? (for example for UR1, UR2 and interview, if you were keeping track)

Do we know what sort of grades it takes to get NYC big law from UVA? Median-ish?

since that's the easiest market, I'm sure there are plenty of people below median who get NYC.SweetTort wrote:Do we know what sort of grades it takes to get NYC big law from UVA? Median-ish?

how did you do the "interests and hobbies" section? I have enough room to list them, but not describe them (it's only 200 characters).

I just listed them and put a descriptive position title on some if necessary/room allows. Don't forget to list softballproteinshake wrote:how did you do the "interests and hobbies" section? I have enough room to list them, but not describe them (it's only 200 characters).

By way of contrast, I put mine in the form of a short paragraph. I'm sure they see all different sorts of formats, so don't worry as long as it is clear.Rich Uncle Skeleton wrote:I just listed them and put a descriptive position title on some if necessary/room allows. Note that popped collars are also an obligatory interest, so don't forget to include that as well.

I know it's possible, from LSN, but think it varies from person to person. It def adjusts to that year's tuition and fees, so I don't see why they wouldn't let you defer if you were a compelling enough applicant.gilmoregirlrevival wrote:To those that received Dillards or other merit scholly...
Do you know if you can defer a year and still get full merit scholarship?
Last year Dillards were $171k, this year around $178k

For section 12 of the app (Activities and Interests), when it asked for you to list the activities in order of importance, specify length, role, etc., did you all just C&P from your resume and rearrange in order of importance (leave bullet form, all of that) or did you all write in paragraph form?

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
The year to year adjustment will happen, so I wouldn't worry, but if you think that this is likely I'd reach out to them at some point soon. I was thinking of doing the same and I know that merit scholarships can't always just be postponed for a later year. I'm sure you're treated differently though bc it's Dillard - so it's 100% worth a shot but I'd also make sure that if they say yes that you have it in writing hahaSweetTort wrote:I know it's possible, from LSN, but think it varies from person to person. For those accepted, did you just get a simple envelope in the mail with logistical details? I got accepted during my interview with Dean Faulk, but I guess I was expecting a more detailed packet than the fairly basic letter that came... Does more come later, or is that it? lol
