Applied mid January, complete late January, slightly below 75ths. Anyone got an idea of how quickly I can expect a scholarship letter? GL to everyone else!
Congrats!!

I'm wondering about the wait for scholarship offer as well -- especially for those who submitted need-based aid information.

I ended up emailing Dean Schwartz and he got back to me saying I didn't qualify for need-based aid and that they wouldn't be offering me merit aid at the moment.

For those wondering, I got a big admissions/UCLA propaganda packet in the mail about a week or so after being admitted. Mainly general info about the school.

Oh wow that's a bummer, I hope they didn't accept me this late because I looked desperate enough to go at sticker or something :(

How long should I wait before I just conclude that they don't plan on offering me merit aid? I have been sitting on a good offer from USC for a while but I was hoping that I would see something from UCLA before I need to negotiate.

I received an e-mail about a provisional award letter just now - it only gives information on need-based aid through loans and such. Does this mean I will not be receiving any merit-based aid, or does that get sent to us via separate cover? Hoping it is the latter - have a decent offer from USC and want to get negotiation started, but it would be nice to have UCLA offer something and not $0.00.

I would call to double check, but it probably means they aren't offering anything. Definitely try to negotiate with that USC offer.

Dear Dean of Admissions,

Pretty please just admit me? I will pay full price, not even asking for a scholarship here. In fact, if there aren't enough desks I'm happy to sit indian-style on the floor during classes. You won't even notice I'm there!

Just take my money, please.

Sincerely,
capricasixx

I don't, but I'm not sure why the Dean knowing that I really really want to go to this school would hurt my chances? lol

Oh, I do see your point but I'm not likely to be in much of a bargaining position regardless. I'm a splitter and I applied on the late side, so I really am living on a prayer here.

Really feeling like no news is bad news at this point. Went complete early Feb. Heard from USC (including $$) fairly quickly and crickets from UCLA. Anyone else thinking the same thing?

I have had the exact opposite experience. I heard from UCLA (including $$) pretty quickly, but I am still sitting at complete 2/3 with USC (not even at CR1). I am definitely thinking no news is bad news with respect to USC. On the bright side, you got into USC. Now there's no need to flip a coin to determine which school you want to attend.

I really don't understand the admissions process, to be honest. Similar thing happened to me with BC and BU. I received a large scholarship offer from BC, but I was wait-listed at BU yesterday.

having the same experience, what it means is anyone's guess.... I think most schools are being careful not to overenroll at this point. Hoping for a decision for both of us soon though!

Can someone please confirm for me whether the scholarship offer is contained within the provisional award letter from the financial aid office? Or are those two separate things?

I am waitlisted :( How worthwhile are the visits to show that you are interested before writing that LOCI letter?
