Probably not a typical applicant, in last week with <3 GPA & 169 LSAT. Medical performance considerations for GPA & work experience as a teacher. Canadian.
Got offered Scholar in Law Award for $10 000 per year.
Would this be a good place to post a question about scholarship negotiations?
Good luck to everyone!
1l Here. I have friends with similar numbers, although a few points higher on the LSAT, and I think they were able to get like 30 or 40k a year. I'm not saying it will happen, but they do tend to raise scholarships closer to the add/drop deadlines. I think people say it's because schools are trying to keep their medians and so they want to make sure they lock them in.
As for how to negotiate I'm sure there are threads on it, but one person I know wasn't actively negotiating because they were trying to get money at another school. WashU kept raising the offer until they felt it would be stupid to go to the other school.
Good luck and congrats on getting accepted and on your LSAT score!
Well that's pretty damn encouraging lol. Thanks for the info. I think I'll probably wait it out a but and see if they reach out first, otherwise I'll try to muster up some haggling skills. Thanks again!

You should certainly get more than $10,000.

I got accepted about a month ago. Only got a letter in the mail saying congratulations. Do they send any larger packet? And haven't heard back re: scholarships? Should I have heard by now? I got significant scholarship money from peer schools so I'm confident I would get something??

As transferring is iffy, would you suggest someone with a lower T14 acceptance to just avoid WUSTL then if Big Law was the goal?
Yes, although transferring to a T14 from median is very much a possibility, and WUSTL's massive scholarships are nothing to scoff at.
I'd love to hear from other current/past students too.
I read through all the comments about transfers and scholarships at the beginning of this, and I wanted to ask this hypothetical:
WUSTL for free vs. T6 at sticker - is one obviously better?
WUSTL for free. If you can work your ass off 1L and land a good SA for 2L summer at no cost, that's the better option. Although keep in mind, doing above the curve/top of class is harder than it seems like it will be. The curve is a real thing and everyone here will be gunning for top of class. I would say, don't pay sticker. Just my opinion (as someone who does, and should have retaken the lsat).

I'm in a similar situation! Accepted to WUSTL on Jan. 21 and still nothing about scholarships (no letter in the mail yet either). My numbers are both above 75% and I'm also in at Duke so I feel like there should be something coming... I'm wondering if it is too early to email WashU and ask them about scholarships/inform them about the Duke offer? Any advice would be helpful!

I'd just be patient, if you're above both 75ths they're going to throw money at you (I'm a pretty crazy splitter and they gave me 80% tuition for the initial offer). Some people have taken a few weeks to get their offers back, so it's not entirely rare. If it gets to the end of the month before you hear anything, then I'd start being concerned.

I was accepted 12/31 and still haven't heard anything regarding scholarships. I received a good amount from other similarly ranked schools, so I'd be very surprised if they plan to offer me nothing...
Can someone advise if/when we should call/email admissions?

I wonder if their budget is tight. I have been waiting for about a month, as well. Seems like people with similar #'s were getting close to full rides earlier in the cycle.

Waitlisted, compete since the first week of January. Anyone have an idea of when they begin accepting off the waitlist? Who else is riding it out?
