Re: Chicago C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Submitted late November, UR since 12/5 and no interview request.
Should I be expecting a rejection, or is it too early for speculation?

Re: Chicago C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Long time lurker. Was waitlisted at Chicago yesterday. It is my number one choice and I would love to go there. Any ideas and suggestions to help my chances of getting off the waitlist? I currently teach at a school on the South Side right below Hyde Park (which I mentioned in my PS) and am planning to further connect that in my LOCI.
Any suggestions would be great! And if anyone has some grasp on how likely it is to get off a waitlist at Chicago?
Thank you!

Were the questions that threw you off personal to just your application or were they very general (but unexpected)? If they were general would you mind sharing? Thanks!GoogleWasMyIdea wrote:I had my interview earlier this week. My interviewer asked questions that she was reading straight from a list (the majority of which came from the list posted earlier ITT, with the exception of 2 or 3 questions), but I wouldn't describe it as "cold." Just not as conversational as your common interview. But I was prepared for that by reading a lot of the posts here, so I didn't really phase me.
Just my opinion, but I think the purpose of the interview is to see how poised you are in a high stakes situation. The couple of questions I was asked that weren't ITT definitely threw me off briefly, but I kept my cool and took about 3-5 seconds to gather my thoughts and give a coherent answer. Just go with the flow and don't sweat it. Overall pretty good experience and I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Feel free to PM me if you have more specific questions!

Just curious, how long did it take for most RD admits to get a decision after their interview? Also for those who were recently waitlisted or rejected, did you interview?

Had interview recently. Mine was very casual. I was asked the standard 3 questions: why law? Why now? Why Chicago? But after that we talked about casual topics like the powerball. To me it felt like the interviewer was trying to answer the question, "would I (or other people) enjoy having this person as a coworker?"

Had my interview a while back. 1 weird question was if you were the moderator for the presidential debates, what is one question you would ask the candidates?

Also had my interview recently and found the descriptions in this thread to be pretty accurate.Wahrheit wrote:You should expect new questions, especially if the list of questions they already draw from is so easily available.

Apologize for the super late reply -- one was: "What do you think about the state of US-Canada affairs currently and moving forward?"dreams2020 wrote:Any surprising ones you're willing to share?Legendary wrote:Had my interview recently, and was surprised by the questions asked. Very few actually corresponded to the list of questions ITT (maybe 1-2 for the whole 30 minutes).
I'm Canadian, so I think this would have something to do with it.

Re: Chicago C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I've gotten a few PMS. Generally, I didn't "do" anything to make it happen, although I think I sent a short LOCI at some point stating that I was still very interested. A lot of it is just luck in terms of how the applicant pool shakes out (what scores they need, whether they can admit someone with your stats, etc.) I would suggest that anyone who is very interested arrange a visit to the school, both to demonstrate your interest and to see if you're a good fit for UChicago. Visiting will also give you something else to write to the admissions office about!
I would also suggest, as always, being polite and respectful of the admissions office and their time. They are great people, be nice to them!
I didn't get off of the waitlist until the summer. So my number one suggestion would be to try not to dwell on it. I know it's frustrating to have nothing to do, but mostly this decision is out of your hands.
Good luck!

LMAO @ this question...im Canadian as well and i dont even know how i would have answered that. It seems so formal. My interview was downright jolly compared to that.Legendary wrote:Apologize for the super late reply -- one was: "What do you think about the state of US-Canada affairs currently and moving forward?"dreams2020 wrote:Any surprising ones you're willing to share?Legendary wrote:Had my interview recently, and was surprised by the questions asked.
