Thanks. Mine finally trickled in, so it was kind of nice how I already knew not to get my hopes up when I saw it, haha.wildquest8200 wrote:1:19 EST for menosocat wrote:I didn't get it. I love how they made sure to bold that specification, too.jhk31491 wrote:Got it this morning, but from what I recall some people have already received this email beforenosocat wrote:I didn't get it. Hey guys, question regarding financial aid since we're on the topic: They still give out the provisional scholarship rewards on estimated tax info right? And then I update the Fafsa with actual/concrete figures when taxes are filed (in the next couple months), and then in the summer they give the official award?
Edit: To clarify, this is for need-based aid

Yes! I think so. At least that's how it worked for me at UCLA so far and that's what it indicates in the instructions.sheishkabob wrote:Hey guys, question regarding financial aid since we're on the topic: They still give out the provisional scholarship rewards on estimated tax info right? If you guys don't mind helping me out with a financial aid question, I'd appreciate it.
If I don't/can't submit my parent's information on my FAFSA and Need Access form, am I only disqualified from Need-based aid?

I believe that is correct, with a few exceptions. Definitely contact them if you think you might qualify for aid due to special circumstances.Decisions Decisions wrote:If you guys don't mind helping me out with a financial aid question, I'd appreciate it.

Below is what I found on Berkeley's website:
DO I NEED TO SUBMIT PARENT INFORMATION?
Yes, all students are considered to be dependent for need-based aid (meaning that they must submit parent information to be considered for need-based aid) except in the following situations:
The student will be 30 years of age or older by December 31 of that academic year. If this is the case for you, you do not need to notify us and can simply omit the parent sections.
The student can provide documentation of at least 5 years of financial independence from their parents based on these criteria. If this is the case for you, your status as independent must be formally approved by our office.
With these two exceptions, all students who wish to be considered for a need-based grant must submit complete parent information on the FAFSA and supplemental application.
Without complete parent information, dependent applicants will not be considered for grant eligibility. If you are in doubt whether you need to submit parent information, please ask us!

Yeah that's what I was going on, so I'm glad to see you got the same thing from it. Thanks!

Re: Berkeley Law School c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
My neurosis got the best of me and I read the later half of the posts from last year. It seems there was one individual who was moved to fr2 but he/she sent in their application pretty late in the game. I also recall there being one or two auto admits from ur. Or I'm so delusional and optimistic my mind tricked me into reading all that. Hoping for the former.dustybottoms7 wrote:have all the fr2 notifications gone out? should we be expecting another wave of decisions other than the fr2 deadline? I just realized I never sent Berkeley my DS, which is about being LGBTQ. Do you guys think I should send it now that I'm in FR2?

Is it a thing to send a LOCI while in FR2?

i would send it right away, tbh. especially because it's berkeley and they seem to give more weight to that stuff than other schools. at any rate i don't see how it could hurt.dasani13 wrote:I just realized I never sent Berkeley my DS, which is about being LGBTQ. Dinged just now via email. No surprise as a splitter, but still hurts a little coming from my undergrad institution

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
