Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
That's how I read the "Guide to Interviews" thread (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=200887). If it's a one-on-one in person with an alum or something (N/A to Harvard obviously), then yes, but over Skype, no need I think.mpc347 wrote:The received wisdom here is not to send a thank you note after interviews, right?

It's definitely unnecessary, and in fact, awkward. That you had to ask the question already demonstrates the latter.LetsGoMets wrote:That's how I read the "Guide to Interviews" thread (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=200887). I'm sure you had a fantastic JS1, which as we all know are largely about ensuring that an applicant has strong social acuity.
Sending a Thank You Note probably won't hurt you, but it's definitely outside of the social convention in this game.

For those who already had their JS1s, was there a way in advance to tell who you're interviewing with? Was the person who send the JS1 email notification your interviewer?

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Sadly no, you just get who you get. I had JS yesterday, others had Danielle Early on Wednesday. It sounds like they both have similar styles though, as opposed to the very different question set between JS and KB in years past.ElizabethKB wrote:For those who already had their JS1s, was there a way in advance to tell who you're interviewing with? EDIT: And of course congrats!

If by "3/11" you mean November 3rd, don't fret. Most JS1s this week went complete mid-/late October.kadyevna wrote:For your guys who received JS1 this week, when did you complete the application?? my app was completed on 03/11, i'm getting really nervous..

Does it mean anything if your time between complete and JS1 was shorter or longer than other people?

It is. But the odds of getting dinged is also not too small, imo.hillz wrote:

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I went through the stats page for 2013 and it seems to me that short complete-to-JS1 time correlates strongly with high numbers and high admitted rate. But longer time does not seem to indicate much.jawsjawsjaws wrote:Does it mean anything if your time between complete and JS1 was shorter or longer than other people?

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Let's do some data analysis! [from 2013-2014]
# of applicants who did JS1s : 188
JS1s accepted: 65% -> 81%
JS1s denied: 3% -> 19%
JS1s decision pending: 32% [100-65-3]
if we distribute decision pending to accepts and denies, it would be 81% accepted, which follows what we know about JS1s overall already. A bit on the high side, probably from a mixture of self-selection into TLS itself and then self-selection to report on the spreadsheet.
# of applicants who did JS1s in October or November: 82
JS1s accepted: 68 + 9.4 = 77.4 -> 94%
JS1s denied: 3 + 0.4 = 3.4
JS1s WL: 1 + 0.1 = 1.1
JS1s decision pending: 10
If we distribute the 10 decision pending to accept, deny and WL, it would be 94% accepted, which may be a bit higher than the actual as well.
Anyway, your chances are good.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Great analysis. You deserve a JS2. So you are implying that all who got a JS1 will be notified that they are either accepted, denied or waitlisted? That's some good news to hear because, looking at the spreadsheet, I thought a huge chunk of those decision pending ones never heard back.blueberrycrumble wrote:Let's do some data analysis!
