Congrats! I cannot decipher if there is any rhyme or reason to Cornell's decisions but I am also above both 75ths and applied in mid-late October. Today's activities: constantly refreshing my inbox.

Also, Lavitz... on a personal note, you rock. It's kind of nice to have an insider so involved with the applicant thread!

I keep meaning to totally bum you out with a million PM questions, but then I usually just decide to make up the answers I want and then try really hard to convince myself that they're true. Using this method, I've managed to deduce (mathematically, of course) that Cornell is offering an average of $200,000/year to all splitters, and that an earthquake recently moved Ithaca down to Florida. This same earthquake killed Donald Trump, who left me his fortune and his pet roboctopus.

Ok...interesting.

I called Cornell today out of sheer nerves.

The rep on the phone told me that applications take, at most/on average, six to eight weeks to finish verification.

So that's interesting, and definitely helps me relax a little bit.

Two months to verify an application is insane.

Credit reports, security clearance, visas, background checks with a PI--they have a lot of information to go through

Apparently! Email says they can do it in person or by Skype starting in late January and that they'll make a decision on my app within a week of the interview, which is nice.

I'm above both 75ths so maybe it's a YP thing?

So you guys panicked me, I checked my email and lo and behold I have an interview request as well.

Hmmm... I'm also above both 75ths so maybe that is it. I'm just so relieved to finally hear something from Cornell that I'm determined to take it as a good sign.

I like this part of the email:

More schools appear to be doing interviews now. Interesting development.

I submitted in mid-September and went complete in early October. Hadn't had any status updates since November 4.

I think kershka and I are on similar timelines. Submitted early October and went complete by the end of October with maybe 3 updates until mid November. Not a peep since
