Didn't lengthen or tailor PS (2 pages exactly) or write a Why Berkeley and I got in via email a few days ago. I have no connections to CA and made no indication (other than sending an application) that I wanted to move from the East Coast to CA--I think the black box hype is a little exaggerated. Anyway, send a 3rd if you have one ready it certainly won't hurt, but I doubt it will be the difference between a yes and a no.msblaw89 wrote:Just out of curiosity... how many LOR did you send Berk? Good luck!
Was anyone accepted who only has 2 LOR?

Re: Berkeley c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I was accepted with:
2 page personal statement (not tailored)
2 LOR's (not specific)
No why Berkeley etc.
I think that they are concerned with whether you put together a cohesive application more so than whether you conform to arbitrary things such as a 4 pg. statement.

Alright, I hate to disappoint, but I'm not sure if we are going to be seeing too much movement if any before next year. Looking at this:
http://berkeley.lawschoolnumbers.com/ap ... er=asc&p=3
Seems like they stopped on the 13th or 14th and then started up with a wave of decisions from the week of the third on. I'm hoping that's not the case, but the huge gap in decision dates suggests that they may just shut down. A similar thing happened the year before just a bit later on the 17th, and then they didn't re open or send out decisions until the 11th of the next year. We might be in for a long wait.

I did not submit a why Berkeley? It's not really my number 1 but still I would love to be able to consider it. I always imagine if you don't do a why x it shows a lack of interest.
Big mistake not submitting one? Will it count against me?

Many admits in this thread (myself included) didn't write a Why Berkeley or tailor our PS's to Berkeley and we made it through just fine. Don't worry about it.

Ugh, I really hope you're wrong. I'm not sure if Berkeley (or most other admissions offices) are even going to be open next week. Things always get messed up when Xmas is on a weekend because then places close the entire week before. I'm still holding out hope that they might make some more calls/ send some more emails between tomorrow and 12/21. 11/22 UR here. A Berkeley acceptance would make the perfect Chrismukkah present.hyakku wrote:Seems like they stopped on the 13th or 14th and then started up with a wave of decisions from the week of the third on. I hope I'm wrong too, but just based off history it's not looking too good for next week so let's hope we get our acceptances sometime tomorrow or Friday.

Got a call from an unknown CA number this morning...

Heh. That would really confuse the survey guys. (Or they take it as a confirmation that there is a debt crisis)Green Glass Windows wrote:No way. I would have probably cried.... so cruel.rich_4 wrote:Got a call from an unknown CA number this morning...
