Who have y'all been emailing to negotiate? Associate Director Sandoval?

Does American even negotiate? or are you trying to negotiate from the $5k to the $10k?

I'm trying to even get $5K or $10K... As it stands (unless the mail is slow, I got admitted last week) I got nothing from AU, although I got substantial schollys from peer ranked schools so gonna see if I can even get 5.

So who is collecting phone numbers for tomorrow night? And how is everyone getting there tomorrow? The directions from the e-mail yesterday sound pretty annoying.

I'm staying at the Marriott a few miles north, then driving to the law school. If anyone is in the same area and needs a ride PM me here and I'll see what I can do to help.

As for staying for the whole thing, I'm leaving for an hour or so to head to the Georgetown ROTC office but then I'll be back and stay until the end.

This definitely will not work without some prompting/organization. (I've tried this tactic a few times already at other schools....)

Also, I may not stay the whole time unless everyone else is planning to, in which case I'm happy to hang back to meet up.

Facebook Group started today for the class of 2014, hopefully ASD went great for all that attended. I won't be able to attend until the next one on the 22nd.

It was ok. The school itself is one big building, but the surrounding area looks nice. They definitely put a large emphasis on their international law program and public interest externships.

They spoke about job prospects. They stressed that networking was key to ensuring one finds employment after graduation. This is generally true at all schools, but they really stressed it.

Overall, I liked it. Barring a miraculous acceptance off the gw waitlist, ill be at wcl in the fall.

That's actually weird -- yesterday they said that if you didn't deposit for your scholly, they wouldn't withdraw your app, they would only withdraw your scholly offer. In other news, the ASD was ok, but I think I'll be withdrawing very shortly as well.

"We are disappointed you did not accept the American University Washington College of Law Merit Scholarship by submitting the required deposit by April 1, 2011. Since the response deadline has passed we assume you have decided to pursue other options. Consequently, we are withdrawing your application from the fall 2011 entering class."

I had a great experience at the ASD. I'm pretty sure I will be going to WCL in August.

I started by asking one of the faculty members if he knew of any current student or professor involved with the JAG Corps. He didn't know off hand but 30 minutes later Brooke Sandoval found me and asked if I was the one wanting to know about JAG. She pointed me to a current 3L who will be commissioning into the Air Force. This 3L then introduced me to one her professors who is retired Air Force and I spent about 2 hours talking to them. All of the information they gave me, the overall level of hospitality, and the externship opportunities available to students have pretty much sold me on American.
