Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
Does anyone know when Georgia is going to start placing the rest of us on the waitlist? 163/4.0 and been in review since December. I was holding out hope for an acceptance, but it's not looking likely now. Is there anything I should be doing in the meantime or should I just wait it out until I hear something from them?

95% were waitlists. The rest were rejections.

Just got accepted via e-mail. 169 LSAT / sub-3.0 GPA. Out-of-state.

Notice the lack of indecisions at 164? I think UGA is making a strong attempt to bump the median to 165. They are dinging people below 164 and accepting people above, but refusing to make many decisions on the 164 line. Good luck to those below 165, but I would love for 165 to become the new median and raise UGA in the rankings.

I am way below and 164, and I haven't heard anything. I applied in November. This is getting a bit annoying. If you are going to reject me just fucking do it. They could have done it a long time ago.

I was admitted off of the "held for further review" status, so they're definitely reviewing those people further.Nailjohnj wrote:Congrats, y'all. I hope this is meaning that this held position alot of us are sitting in might be coming to a close... Hopefully in a positive way (fingers crossed)

definitely does. I have a strong interest in PI and it seems like an awesome event to attend. Unfortunately, flying twice to Georgia just ain't cheapSandro wrote:Did everyone get the Georgia Law Public Interest Celebration Weekend email? Sounds cool.

I signed up for the ASW. Tough to choose between IU (who will pay for everything) and UGA for the ASW on the same day but I feel I got a much more personal look of IU when I visited than UGA.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that full-time students don't qualify as in-state, even if they have been "living" in GA for >12 months while enrolled in a full-time program...it's pretty hard to get classified as in-state for educational purposes unless you have a parent who lives in GA or if you work while enrolled full-time and pay state taxes.bergg007 wrote:I JUST GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily, GA is pretty cheap for both IS and OOS, comparatively.

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
I've actually heard Georgia is pretty easy to get in-state. I heard just registering to vote there or working there over the summer will do the trick.tchan4269 wrote:Don't quote me on this, but I believe that full-time students don't qualify as in-state, even if they have been "living" in GA for >12 months while enrolled in a full-time program...it's pretty hard to get classified as in-state for educational purposes unless you have a parent who lives in GA or if you work while enrolled full-time and pay state taxes.bergg007 wrote:I JUST GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Um...how come everyone says otherwise. I know you wrote "Don't quote me on this" but it is a misleading post.tchan4269 wrote:Don't quote me on this, but I believe that full-time students don't qualify as in-state, even if they have been "living" in GA for >12 months while enrolled in a full-time program...it's pretty hard to get classified as in-state for educational purposes unless you have a parent who lives in GA or if you work while enrolled full-time and pay state taxes.bergg007 wrote:I JUST GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
Yeah you are very wrong, it is not difficult to get IS after one year of studying in GA, and UGA law helps you through the process.tchan4269 wrote:Don't quote me on this, but I believe that full-time students don't qualify as in-state, even if they have been "living" in GA for >12 months while enrolled in a full-time program...it's pretty hard to get classified as in-state for educational purposes unless you have a parent who lives in GA or if you work while enrolled full-time and pay state taxes.bergg007 wrote:I JUST GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As for ASW, I will definitely be there! Looking forward to it.

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
The major factor behind it is whether or not your parents claim you as a dependent on their tax returns. If you're claimed and they don't have Georgia residency, you aren't eligible for in-state tuition. Obviously, everyone's situation is different, but for those under 24, and straight out of undergrad, their parents likely claim them.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
