Don't understand. How do you know you're admitted if you haven't received snail mail? I thought decisions were only done that way...
They then send an email to admitted students with additional info, so it's possible to get the email before the snail mail.

I got two emails- one about fin aid and the other is the url for the admitted students portal. Also, I'm on the east coast, so I figure the letter isn't coming for another day or so if they sent it yesterday.

Is anybody else feeling confused about this whole Rothman scholarship essay thing?

To add to my confusion, the letter mentions a one to two page essay while the fancy brochure asks for one page. Plus, the return envelope included has an entirely different address than the one to which we're directed to send our applications in the letter . . .

Does anybody else have a better idea than I do about what exactly is going on?

cycle seems fine. It's only been a month since I submitted so no news yet. Lots of in reviews. Expect to be in the Illinois 1/14 decision batch (though they have been WLing people with my stats left and right :/) Any other news after the NYU acceptance?

Rejected by Chicago yesterday. That's it though. I have a feeling you're gonna be getting a lot of good news soon!

Any idea whether this Rothman essay will be considered for acceptance into the school?

I'm debating how much time I want to spend perfecting this, given the odds of receiving it (.29%)!

Actually that would only be true if the recipients were chosen at random, and if everyone had the same stats

I'm writing the Rothman with a tiny chance at earning it because it shows I have legitimate interest in the school. Therefore, probably no YP.

I'm just putting a 1.5 page essay in the return envelope they gave us.

Yield Protect. If they think you're unlikely to attend, may as well boost selectivity.

Looking at the graph from LSN last year it looks like USC doesn't practice YP much, if at all. Any reason to expect that to change?

George Mason gave me a taste of it. My first academic denial ever, softened the blow for when I get one from a school I actually would like to attend though.
