If I were going to be getting merit aid from Columbia, would I have found out about it when they offered me admission? Secondly, when they calculate need do they always take parents' assets into account? I don't think I can qualify for merit or need based grants there but I want to make sure. Thank you.
True merit aid only comes with the admit. Then, you can apply for need based (which some see as a second round of unofficial merit) and yes, they will require your parents info. This last part screwed me good. Older student, personally funded two degrees, poor as it gets and somehow my dad's income matters. thanks CLS! good luck to you
Thank you. I'm in a similar situation. Frustrating.

Yeah, I have a feeling that when they said we would hear by April 15th they meant we would hear ON April 15th.

Yay! Can't believe I got in! So excited! I thought the torment was the wait, but now its figuring out where to go and what I will be paying to go there! Le sigh. The frustration continues- at least it's welcomed this time around!

I sent one in today and CLS emailed me and said the letter was added to my file. I cannot imagine it affecting you in a negative way at all.

Did you mail or e-mail the LOCI?

Email for the sake of time/convenience. I wouldn't recommend snail mailing unless you sent via email as well.

Yeah, with emails you get digital confirmation. You can always call/shoot a quick email to see if the letter was added to your file.

I was never held. This was the first I've heard from Columbia since applying back in January. I got an email with the subject heading "Admit" from Columbia with a PDF attachment- a scanned image of the acceptance letter. Good luck to everyone still waiting! Hopefully I hear from Cornell and McGill soon so I can make a decision!

Do all of the hold letters promise a decision by April 22? Or do the earlier ones have a different date?

I was in the first batch of holds, and mine says 4/22 as well. Any time now CLS...

You can do whatever you would like to do; but I personally wouldn't call unless you want to inform them of a deadline you are trying to adhere to with another school.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
