what do you think this means? Clearly not an autoreject/autoaccept/WL/Hold Well, maybe an unofficial hold

Re: Columbia 2011!
yea i'm thinking it's like an unofficial hold... probably would have been officially held had i applied earlier, but since i havn't been waiting that long they didn't feel the need to send an e-mail i guessdrummerboy wrote:what do you think this means? International students are not given the boosts that are associated with URM status.bob77 wrote:urm held with those numbers?jupiter wrote:got my acceptance email today

To be honest, not really. Probably something to do with reporting data...international students are usually considered a separate category from domestic minorities.bob77 wrote:ah, i see, do you know why?GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:International students are not given the boosts that are associated with URM status.bob77 wrote:urm held with those numbers?jupiter wrote:got my acceptance email today

Re: Columbia 2011!
So I just called (again) and my file is "still under review." Submitted 10/13. For those of you that are frantically trying to do the math, yes, that is 5 months and 3 weeks. By this time next week, I will have achieved epic "6 months forgotten" status. Get ready people.

haha i think it's fair to say that organizing 7000+ applications to our convenience is a very difficult task. yes, some schools do it very well, but maybe columbia isn't one of them.

Not to worry, I have gotten so used to waiting at this point that I think getting a decision might actually feel strange

Re: Columbia 2011!
I was held along with a January app and nowhere near good enough numbers (I'd consider my numbers auto-reject, especially with my GPA). Does a hold at least signal that they're aware of my existence and if I buy new wooing shoes, might they consider me seriously? I'm asking because I'm pretty sure I want to ED next cycle, but not going to do it if there's *no* hope.

Well we would have a better idea if we had a vague sense of your numbers. It depends.descartesb4thehorse wrote:I was held along with a January app and nowhere near good enough numbers (I'd consider my numbers auto-reject, especially with my GPA). Re: Columbia 2011!
So I'm just repeating what some of you may already know, but according to LSN+this thread, it seems like the Feb holds have been hearing back. I suppose March holds will be coming up soon.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
