The latest data from LSAC shows an increase in applications of 4.6%. Applicants are up 1.5%. At Illinois our applications are up 40% from the same time last year.0L Hoping for 1 wrote:Dean Pless. I am sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not find it. I was wondering if you could comment on how many more applications you received this year from last? I am wondering if other schools are receiving 50% increases like Cornell, or if Cornell is just an anomaly? Thank you.

Sorry Veritas. I feel in a week a may be in the same boat, though. In fact, I'd probably be HAPPY with a waitlist.
Congrats to everyone who heard some good news today.

Edit: I misread your statement and thought you meant complete 1/29. If you went in review 1/29, then you should hear today... Because that's also when I went in review.dusk2k2 wrote:By "when," I mean should I be expecting an email from Illinois today if I went in review 1/29/10.

He's also a pretty cool guy if any of you have a chance to speak with him (as if you couldn't figure this out by now, anyway).

Mind PMing your numbers?
But seriously, bummer. But you already have a few acceptances under your belt, so chin up.

Yeah, sorry to hear illini10.
As a fellow Illini I share your desire to stay here for another 3 years. Good luck with the rest of your cycle, though. Like others said, you have some solid acceptances with money already so not all is lost.

Oh, and status just changed to File Complete, In Review.
*crosses fingers*
It is a strange feeling knowing Dean Pless is going to be right down the street this week reading my file. I feel so helpless, it is going to be hard to refrain from flooding him with offers of free pizza/sandwiches/coffee.
That said, do you prefer pepperoni or sausage, Dean Pless?

Maybe he likes Portillo's Italian Beefs instead... you have to give him a wider range of choice.traehekat wrote:Oh, and status just changed to File Complete, In Review.

Wow, interesting. I would have thought total applicants would be up by much more than 1.5%. This must mean that only highly-ranked schools are getting a huge increase in applications, and that the increase in applicants at highly-ranked schools is much less than the increase in applications. I wonder if waitlists will be particularly active this year as a result?

Typically I am able to offer scholarships to some of the people admitted off of the wait list.jmhendri wrote:Dean Pless,

I'm more of a Gumby's fan than One World, although I have to say I have never actually HAD Gumby's pizza. The pokey stix, however... oh man.Desert Fox wrote:TCR is buying him a Taco Gringo pizza from One World. This scholarship combined with how impressed I've been with UIUC's transparency this cycle could really end up being a game-changer for me.
