LSN:
171: 5 in
172: 4 in 1 WL
173: 8 in with some lower GPAs

I agree though, 171-172 is in no man's land. YP worries from below and WL/Reject above.

Of the 172s that are in, three are above 3.9 and the fourth is 3.53. Weird.

I guess that makes me feel better. It'd be worse if a dozen 172/3.6 ED applicants all over the country had already been accepted.
im neither an auto admit and a urm and i somehow snuck in... so don't give up hope!

Yes, the other group of people in right now are the borderline reverse-splitters.

Don't get me wrong, I'm taking the fact that the admitted profile currently looks the opposite of me as a good sign. It means I haven't missed the boat.

But these are all 171+ with really strong GPA's. They have not dipped into the lower GPA's yet. Seems they sorted apps by likelihood and started with the probably pile. Hopefully next is the maybe pile... which is where most of the ED'ers will be. That may be why so few ED's have yet to be accepted

It seems there have been a handful of sub-170s with 3.8+... the borderline reverse-splitters I was talking about. It seems inevitable that there are a bunch of 174+ with sub 3.5s out there to balance the curve. So I don't think it's quite as simple as probably-->maybe.

You're right about one thing though, which is that EDs will tend to have more borderline numbers as a group.

PURPLE ENVELOPE! 173 / 3.9. FWIW, I have multiple LSATs. I always thought their claim to "average" was bogus.

But seriously, NYU, no viewbook?

I would think anyone with a sub 3.5 and not a URM would be a maybe. Of course barring 177+

Hi all,

I haven't been following this thread and don't have time to catch up, but just wanted to let you guys know I got an NYU acceptance in the mail today-- big purple envelope with two sheets of paper in it.

The letter is dated December 1, 2009 and I received it on December 7, 2009.

I sent my app to NYU on September 3 and received a complete email on November 3rd. The rest of my info and my numbers are in my LSN profile.

I got into CLS via ED on December 1st and sent NYU an email on December 3rd telling them to withdraw my application. They haven't responded, but hopefully it's been done and that will free up a slot for someone who is still waiting to hear back.. best of luck to you all!!!

Yeah, my numbers were probably off. I still feel like we've seen more admits from the above-median-GPA/below-median-LSAT crowd than the other way around.

Not on LSN, but I don't have a GPA above 3.9. Mine's about 3.8

Less weird. I should have heard before 3.53! It does look like that applicant was from a week or so earlier than me, however.

Yeah, we just need to remember
3.56-3.85
169-173

There should be many more acceptances going out to the above range. I don't know if I'd attend NYU, but I sure want to have an excuse to visit NYC for the first time.

No, just the acceptance letter, the contract, and several thousand discreet dollar bills.
