When there is a 179/3.8 and a 179/3.96 on LSN that both got rejected (unless they're trolls), you have to have quite the impressive opinion of yourself to expect to get into Yale.

Uh.... tension is running a bit high over here today, I guess. I just wanted to inject some positivity into the discussion and wish good luck to everyone, but especially to fellow January completers. I just have no clue what my fate is going to be - part of me is like, well, I made it this far, and the other part of me is like, well, why weren't you included in last week's admit wave for other January completers? Also a shout-out to fellow reverse-splitters and to fellow KJD's who are still in the run.

To those of us are still holding on (complete 12/20), what is the likelihood of ding/WL/admit? If 164 students are in the FB group, and they accept around 250 every year, can we assume anyone remaining has an 11 and will be either accepted and the remainder WL? Do people think they've gone through and scored every application? It seems likely given that we had March applicants rejected in the last ding wave. That leads me to think anyone remaining has a decent shot at a WL, at least.

I don't know.. That was my initial optimistic thought, but then... It is possible that some of those March rejections were auto-dings that didn't make it to FR in the first place... Or maybe the faculty members who got my application are slow readers (and they will ultimately give me a score lower than 11). And of course, even if I were to receive an 11, the AdComm can still ding me at the end. Rough process. But some of us will certainly make it!

I haven't seen any acceptances for anyone past Feb 1 so I think some 12's are probably hanging out still and they just haven't released any acceptances for the later dates yet. The 11s are probably being thinned still. I would also put dollars on the possibility of more dings tomorrow, though I hope and fear for myself if so.

I feel really nerdy for knowing this, but I looked at the past two cycles for people who submitted between 10/30 and 12/16 (my submission date was between then) and here's what I found for people who didn't get dinged during the major ding wave in Feb or major ding wave in April:

During the 2013-2014 cycle, there were 7 total applicants not dinged during those two first waves. 2 were accepted, 3 were waitlisted, and 2 were rejected.

During the 2012-2013 cycle, there were 13 total applicants not dinged during the first two waves. 2 were accepted, 10 were waitlisted, and 1 was rejected.

I may have missed a couple applicants, but I think I got nearly all of them. Also, there was pretty wide variation in the waitlist/acceptance/rejection dates for these applicants, but most were mid April, a couple of weeks after the major April ding wave.
