Let me challenge the notion that this applicant is one GW, or other schools with similar 25-75 LSATs, would aggressive seek. Maybe I am missing something about ratings calculations, but given GW's 75th percentile is 168, I am not sure a 179 is significantly better in their eyes than a 169. No? From my own experience, in general, I seem to be doing better financially at schools in which my LSAT is close to but above medians and 75th's, than schools my LSAT is way above.chargers wrote:To echo gbelle, I would be extremely surprised if you weren't given a good bit of $$$.kcdc1 wrote:Not too tough to imagine really--2.8 GPA. GW appears to have been reasonably splitter-friendly last cycle: http://gw.lawschoolnumbers.com/applicants/1213

Not to state the obvious, but GW is ranked much higher than Fordham and I strongly suspect your opportunities for internships are much better in Washington DC than Atlanta.... I suspect these factors drive up the demand to attend GW, leading them to feel compelled to dangle smaller bucks to entice.bpc2110 wrote:Exact same

Edit: dumb question about averages vs. quartiles since I just answered it via Google in 10 seconds.
USNWR just uses medians.

I was told by somebody in admissions that they would reconsider scholarship offers after April 1st (basically after people with scholarships have to submit a deposit).kidrobotLaw wrote:Not to state the obvious, but GW is ranked much higher than Fordham and I strongly suspect your opportunities for internships are much better in Washington DC than Atlanta.... Just listened to a great argument by Turley from GWU Law on NPR against Obama's executive overreach. Sounded like a very reasonable professor.

Just got my scholarship email - 45k. PT applicant.
Now I just need to decide between here and Georgetown (haven't heard anything scholarship wise from them)! #firstworld0Lproblems

25k/yr, pretty disappointed.
2/5 complete
2/10 accepted
Figured the 5 day turnaround would produce more $.

$60k. It seems reasonable but the DC cost of living and tuition make even this difficult to justify

I call yesterday, they said the second round went out this week and the next round wouldn't be until mid-march. Not cool - seeing people who got in after me with similar numbers getting $ already.paulinams wrote:Fingers crossed for scholarship info today! PLEASE

Fair point. I have no idea whether schools care how high your LSAT is once its above a certain threshold. However, even if you disregard his 179 as being no more beneficial than a 169-171 he's still in pretty good shape according to last year's LSN numbers, which was my point.

Seriously?! Well that just about knocks GW off for me. Literally the ONLY school I haven't received money from.. really not cool. Their tuition and COL are ridiculous.yossarian71 wrote:+1uncreative wrote:I call yesterday, they said the second round went out this week and the next round wouldn't be until mid-march. Well. Much of my post was probably driven by 179 envy.

Got the scholly email on 02/27 - 90k as long as I stay in full time and in good academic standing. What does this mean exactly?
I was admitted on 01/30.

Re: George Washington C/O 2017
Don't be too envious. No $$ yet. I think I'm going to have to actively negotiate in order to secure a discounted tuition, and who knows if that will even work. It's a little annoying that being immature and directionless at age 19 is still messing with my life 10+ years later. At least I got in the door I suppose.kidrobotLaw wrote:chargers wrote:kidrobotLaw wrote: Let me challenge the notion that this applicant is one GW, or other schools with similar 25-75 LSATs, would aggressive seek. Also, I think you're right in your analysis about numbers well above 75th percentile. I don't think that my 179 has done anything for me that a 174 wouldn't have done. I think it's functioning more like a soft factor--yeah my GPA is crap, but I promise I'm actually smart!
