Congrats! ASW is March 20-21st. Come join us in the C/O 2017 thread.AceDeuces wrote:In today over the phone!
LSAT and GPA both slightly above median. No "Why UT?" Out of State.

They do, but not everyone has gotten one.AceDeuces wrote:Will do.Attax wrote:Congrats! ASW is March 20-21st. Come join us in the C/O 2017 thread.AceDeuces wrote:In today over the phone!

Attax, do they have a travel stipend? Austin is far away...

I had roughly the same numbers (3.2/173) and got in off the waitlist. I'm a 2L now. I just kept sending LOCIs (3 total) and eventually got off of it. I was also very, very blunt - "If you let me off of the waitlist, I will immediately withdraw all applications from other schools and pay my seat deposit." I think that worked in my favor. Granted, if you're not willing to do that, definitely don't lie!Austinbound wrote:cannibal ox wrote:Austinbound, did you write a Why UT? essay? Either way, I think a LOCI or maybe sending some emails restating your desire to attend could go a long way. They really seem to be focusing hard on admitting (and giving money to) applicants who truly want to end up in Austin.
Yeah I'm definitely going to do a LOCI. It was just shitty timing because I literally visited last week. But of course, Dean Ingram had meetings and couldn't meet with me while I was there. I really wanted to demonstrate my interest by meeting with her. I'm probably just going to send a follow up email LOCI and see what ends up happening. I've thought about taking the June LSAT...but I really don't want to lol
The societies. Good or bad or neutral? Seems kind of high schoolish for me, and also since you are taking some classes with those same people seems like the whole relationship development could suck come grade release time.emkay625 wrote:Hi folks. 2L here who is putting off doing her reading for tomorrow. Feel free to ask anything about UT or Austin. I'm an open book.
Doesn't seem to be high schoolish to me, at least no more high schoolish than law school in general is.Attax wrote:The societies. Good or bad or neutral? I have two jobs (one of which requires travel every weekend) and I'm married, so I'm not super social and almost never go to society events. However I think they're generally pretty great and would take more advantage of them if I wasn't so busy already. It's good to have a small community feeling at such a large school, and you do get to know everyone in your small section really well. Also it means LOTS OF FREE FOOD, which is always useful.Attax wrote:The societies. Good or bad or neutral? It seems that they're targeting their old class sizes of 370-375 but seeking to maintain their LSAT/UGPA numbers (at least at the median) in these times of lean applicants.cannibal ox wrote:Is there any way to tell how large the incoming class is going to be (or the number the admissions department is aiming for)? Seems like it's fluctuated between high and low 300s.
There's no real way to tell. It will be somewhere between 300 and 400, and likely on the lower end of that, but that is 100% a guess based upon what it has been.cannibal ox wrote:Is there any way to tell how large the incoming class is going to be (or the number the admissions department is aiming for)? How big are the sections that you get broken into? Do you have every class with your same section, or is there some cross-over? What are the other types of things that sections do together?

In-state price is pretty hard to beat! Congrats!e456654 wrote:.
Adding some detail to my acceptance, because I know I appreciate it when others do the same:
Stats:
Non-Texan Resident
GPA between 3.71 to 3.78
LSAT between 167 to 168
I have been offered about $60,000.00 over 3 years, including the savings from receiving a non-resident tuition exemption, thus bringing my tuition to the Texan resident pricing. It took 8 weeks from application submission to acceptance. The scholarship offer was first received as an email two weeks after admission, which I thought was quite expedient.
I better go get some wendy's before it hits full heavy!rion91 wrote:In-state price is pretty hard to beat! Congrats!e456654 wrote:.

In other news, looks like "thundersleet" (NOAA's words, not mine) is on its way here to Austin.
