WLed as well. I'm shocked. 169 LSAT, 3.7 GPA. According to all stats, I had a 100% chance of getting in. Maybe they already met their quota of Asians or something, I dunno.

I dunno man - if that was the case we should be seeing a lot more of this YP activity on LSN.

Hello posters!
I have a full ride to UCLA and cannot decide between Columbia Law at sticker. Problem is, i want to specialise in entertainment law and UCLA is #1 for that. The need to pay your dues in BigLaw and the Ivy League prestige draws me to Columbia though! Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I moved to LA from the East Coast in 2006. I'm still here and still waiting for UCLA and USC decisions.
If you want to study entertainment law, and you have a full ride to UCLA, there is no decision to make.
UCLA and USC are THE BEST schools for what you want to study. I don't care what you think you will learn at Columbia. Being here in LA will give you the edge you need to be the best in your field if that is what you want to study. Not to mention a job to back it up and NO DEBT!
GOOD LUCK!

I may be a little biased because I graduated from UCLA undergrad, but a full ride from a Top 16 school is a great option. You'll be able to make a lot of connections at the best law school in so cal and being able to save a lot of money in tuition is not too shabby either. Rent will probably be cheaper too (even though it's LA) when you're comparing UCLA to Columbia. Both degrees travel fairly well but it will be easier finding a high paying job in your school's region. Ask yourself if you want to practice on the west or east coast (because the two regions are very different). Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about UCLA, Westwood, or LA in general. Good luck!mlstflst wrote:Hello posters!

Re: UCLA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
In today!
Of course it was the one day I had my phone off, so I found out via an invite to the Facebook page on my e-mail (I called the admissions office to make sure they weren't just sending it out to all prospective students). So excited!!! I was a CRS applicant but they never contacted me for an interview or anything throughout the process.
Now I have a decision to make: UCI with 90k or UCLA at sticker? (I know everyone on here will probably jump down my throat to pick UCLA and convince me that I'll be living under a bridge in ten years if I pick UCI). I am going to try to negotiate for at least a little merit aid, but based on LSN I'm not liking my chances too much. :/

I want to say March 10th? I was a weird case because I originally had no intention of applying to UCLA with a 3.0 GPA, but I got a 174 on my February LSAT retake and asked the admissions office if I could apply post-deadline.jacketyellow wrote:When did you go complete?Amalthea wrote:In today!Of course it was the one day I had my phone off, so I found out via an invite to the Facebook page on my e-mail (I called the admissions office to make sure they weren't just sending it out to all prospective students). Wow. I haven't heard anything since the end of January. Hoping I see some movement tomorrow or next week.Amalthea wrote:I want to say March 10th? Re: UCLA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Hey guys, just wanted to update that since the time I was accepted via phone call on Monday, I have been able to secure a scholarship, schedule a tour for next Friday, and book a flight from the east coast. Oh, and just found a UCLA undergrad couchsurfing.org host willing to let me sleep at his place for free

Were you able to get UCLA to give you a travel stipend? I'd like to visit as well, and it would certainly help if I could get some financial assistance with that.dobie1 wrote:Hey guys, just wanted to update that since the time I was accepted via phone call on Monday, I have been able to secure a scholarship, schedule a tour for next Friday, and book a flight from the east coast. Yes! They give $200 towards your plane ticket. It has to be for that though, not gas, hotel, or something else. I booked through southwest, and got a round trip flight for 370ish...so after UCLA pays me back, my flight+ accommodations will come to around 170. Go to couchsurfing.org and make an account. People will host you for free, just be respectful and do something nice before you leave (buy/make dinner, buy a bottle of nice liquor, etc.). If you are able to make next Friday's tour, pm me and I can see if my host has room for another personbluemonkey219 wrote:Were you able to get UCLA to give you a travel stipend? Dinged today at UCLA. I can feel my "sunny California" attitude diminishing. Hoping for USC, but since those two are peer schools, I don't think it's going to be good news there either.

WL'd.
Wondering if an additional letter of recommendation would make a difference.

My interview went well, I think. They asked Why UCLA and Why Law and asked about a C&F from when I was 14 and asked about my LSAT jump (160 to 171 from Dec 13 to Feb 14). I asked about the street law clinic and ended up talking to the faculty member in charge of it for longer than I talked to my interviewer. Hoping for some good news soon!

You can tell them you will enroll if they let you in, that helps with yield.UCLAHopeful2014 wrote:WL'd.Wondering if an additional letter of recommendation would make a difference.
