Do you think they would reinstate it?

I dunno--it might make more sense to visit at some other time anyways if you're already pretty sure about H. If you come back in the summer things will be more relaxed and you can do apartment hunting, etc.sabanist wrote:I'm pretty remorseful that I left at this point. :/

Re: In at Harvard: Class of 2016
We are relieved that the situation in the Boston area today has come to a close. The no-travel advisories that were issued by law enforcement authorities earlier today have been lifted. Accordingly, Harvard Law School will reopen on Saturday morning at 6am.
If you are able to travel to Cambridge, we would like to welcome you to HLS for our Admitted Students' Weekend. We will run as much of the regular schedule as we are able to in light of the fact that school has been closed today. Registration will open at 1:30 pm tomorrow with the program beginning at 3 pm. We are happy to have you join us at any point in the weekend.

Eh - it wasn't clear how this was going to end up. Don't blame yourself. You made a smart choice at the time. I'm surprised they are going to have something at all.sabanist wrote:Yeah. Headed back to Birmingham right now. I feel really stupid.

Re: In at Harvard: Class of 2016
Thanks y'all. I'm pretty bummed, but my accommodations went out the window anyway so I would've had to impose on someone (and feel awful for it).
I did a lot of beating myself up already, but I'm home safe now and that's what matters.
Still loathe that I'm probably going to have to eat the ticket cost. I emailed them about subsidies but it seems like they're not answering anything until Tuesday.
Y'all have fun, and I hope to finally get to meet y'all this fall.

Withdrawing from SLS and truly checking in for HLS Class of 2017. Insanely thrilled. Anybody else deferring with me?

Re: In at Harvard: Class of 2016
Handed in my seat deposit. I am so glad I attended ASW because I got many questions answered. For those who didn't get to go, I'm more than convinced now that the choice of law school is mostly based on personal fit. No doors will close on you because you went to either Harvard, Yale, or Stanford. The most impressive part for me was the Q&A with Dean Minow - she was absolutely fantastic and really imbued me with a sense of purpose and excitement. JS was awesome in person and we chatted for quite a while in the pub. I met triple cross-admits leaning Harvard, and those leaning Yale. There were dual cross admits leaning h and those leaning s. Those who reinforced their original leanings and those who completely swayed a different way after ASW. The decision process is highly personal and about fit more than anything.
That being said, the thing that helped me make my decision was the current students and alums. I had a very special time off campus with a bunch of Asian students - an experience that immediately convinced me that HLS was the best fit for me. They connected with me personally (added me on FB and everything) and gave me very personal advice on how to do well at HLS. Even got the chance to talk to an HLS alum who graduated magna cum laude and got the real down low on grades (not the "no one really talks or thinks about grades here" refrain)... I feel very equipped knowledge-wise. I basically met people who I know would be close friends in the future - their homes were fantastic haha and sleepovers are already in order.
I am so happy to be attending HLS in the fall and to draw a close to my cycle. These last four months have been so nerve-racking. I can finally get off TLS and return to my regular diet of South Park. For any minority groups making a decision, PM me - I will be checking the forum occasionally. I had the opportunity to hear personal anecdotes with siblings where one went to Yale and the other Harvard. Different people experience race differently, but if you are at all sensitive to racial issues, you might want to consider the horror stories i've heard. The words from minority YLS grads were illuminating, to say the least. (Also because this is TLS, I half expect an army of people defending Yale right after my post. My intention is not to shittalk any institution - no matter how much people (excessively) venerate it - but to provide some food for thought for any minorities making a decision. I won't "out" you if you PM me.)
Anyways it's been a long ride, and its so nice to put this neuroticism over law school behind me. I hope to see some of you cool cats in the fall!

I'll be withdrawing in the next few days. I really loved the campus, Cambridge and everyone I met, but Stanford is just the perfect fit for me. Thanks for the help everyone in this thread, and for those depositing, enjoy life at THE Harvard Law School.

Congratulations and welcome to the team! I really appreciate you bringing this point up. It's one that definitely invites strong reactions, but is valid, nonetheless. H's size gives it important critical masses that make it a more appealing place for minority folks. There is a sense that if you get Yale and choose Harvard, you're some misinformed troglodyte, but there are indeed some good reasons beyond Boston>>>New Haven to choose H.TrustInMusic wrote:Handed in my seat deposit.
