It seems they also changed scholarship policy a little bit, they used to give out 33K, 35K. So far on LSN the highest is only 30K but seems more people are getting the money.

I applied a day after the regular decision deadline and on their website it says usually those types of applicants aren't given scholarships...still hoping for the best though. It'd be hard to pay sticker anywhere right now, and with a nice scholarship from similarly ranked schools it'd be impossible to make that choice.

sounds logical that completeD versus complete means a decision has been reached. I doubt it's a "ding" though. I dont see why they would hold on to apps they know FOR SURE they will deny. It's probably more of a a waitlist. Mine went to completeD in the morning, then phone call after a few hours. But then, mine also happened on a tuesday, when they normally seem to send responses on fridays , so who knows???? Good luck everyone.

Re: SMU c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
That's my thinking. I went completeD 2/26. I contacted them 2 weeks ago and was told "your application is still under review." I was also told to send them anything I would like to add to my application. So I'm taking completeD as being waitlisted. It just doesn't make sense that they would hold rejections for so long. And why ask me for additional documents if indeed a decision had already been made?nirvanah wrote:sounds logical that completeD versus complete means a decision has been reached. Hoping the same, feel a lot of deposit withdrawals will be noted and hopefully some new acceptances are made today. Just have to wait and see, SMU and Alabama are the last schools which haven't rendered a decision yet and I feel they will within the month.Wes0568 wrote:Still nothing? Looks like they're gonna make us sweat and hold off any decisions until 4:55pm.ChadMichael wrote:Hoping the same, feel a lot of deposit withdrawals will be noted and hopefully some new acceptances are made today. I jinxed it . . . status is still at "Application Completed" and SMU still refuses to let any of us know.grenades13 wrote:Looks like they're gonna make us sweat and hold off any decisions until 4:55pm.ChadMichael wrote:Hoping the same, feel a lot of deposit withdrawals will be noted and hopefully some new acceptances are made today. Holynorth, when did your application go completed though? Also, when did it first go complete? My turnaround time was exactly a week I think, so I don't know if that's a good or bad sign. Thanks for the information though.Holynorth wrote:I received my call around 3:40 pm cst on a Friday. Good luck!

Yup, SMU loves afternoons and some people reported calls (if they got them at all) well after 6 p.m. Good luck!!!

Everyone just saw a FB post that SMU had ASD today for full time students. Admissions is likely tied up with this event.

Is ASD today? SMU needs to do better job communicating with incoming students.Wes0568 wrote:Everyone just saw a FB post that SMU had ASD today for full time students. Admissions is likely tied up with this event.

They can at least send an email to remind us. My mail box was full of emails from BC, GW of all sorts activities but nothing from SMU. I guess some people like no hassle admission process from SMU.Holynorth wrote:It was in my acceptance email and the lady mentioned it when she called me. Are you not on the FB group? They posted two lengthy reminders on the group page. It should also be in your acceptance email and your admittance packet.maxmartin wrote:They can at least send an email to remind us. User has been warned for this post.
Everyone considering depositing at SMU should watch this video first.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9cS3oKDgss
The lead singer in this video, who graduated summa cum laude is working here:
--LinkRemoved--
an oil & gas focused litigation shop with 22 lawyers. If this is what a summa cum laude grad gets, what would a median grad get?
-----
PS. I think the lead singer has some incredible musical talent, and the law follies is hilarious. But, that doesn't mean that someone should go to SMU ...

First off, not the appropriate thread for this. Second, you're a fucking moron. He graduated summa from SMU with his BA. His JD was cum laude.
Third, there are any number of reasons why, even if he was summa, he might be working there. He could have self-selected there. I can say, without question, if I had a choice between an $80K a year, 22-person firm or Akin Gump, I would choose the smaller firm. Or maybe he's a terrible interviewer. Or maybe he didn't have good grades after 1L and killed it 2L and 3L. Or maybe, or maybe, or maybe.

Also, other than my latin honors mixup, why was my post inappropriate?

Well, because one, it's a pretty goddamn important mixup to base an entire post off of. That is a major difference in grades. Second, admitted students threads are not the appropriate place to debate whether or not one should attend a school. They are for questions about the school and the admissions process there. Near as I can tell, the only thing you've ever had to do with SMU on here was a run-by shitting on of the school in this thread.DukeofCambridge wrote:Obviously, I disagree with your second point.kalvano wrote:DukeofCambridge wrote:
