What you gonna do? I had 90k from LLS and nothing from Pepp. Wonder if they woulda hooked it up as well if I let them know about the LLS offer. Doubt it, though.akasabian wrote:FINALLY heard from them. 90k vs 138k from Pepperdine with the same stips though...

I'm going with Pepperdine because I have connections in higher administration at that school (both the School of Law and overarching university) and it is cheaper COA by a decent amount.CO2016YEAH wrote:What you gonna do? And somewhat annoyed it took too long to hear back from them considering my numbers.akasabian wrote:I'm going with Pepperdine because I have connections in higher administration at that school (both the School of Law and overarching university) and it is cheaper COA by a decent amount.CO2016YEAH wrote:What you gonna do? Welp. After attending both the Dodger Stadium thing and the Admitted Students thing, I'm 90% sure I'm headed here. You other admitted students were pretty damned cool.

Glad you enjoyed it! Sad I missed it. Would you mind sharing some of the particulars for those of us that were unable to attend?owlie wrote:Welp. Sure. There wasn't any information shared that people on here didn't already know (though one 2L did say to stay off TLS and Above the Law, hah)MASSattack1 wrote:+1. All of the professors I met were outgoing and personable. They were available and willing to answer any questions posed, and seemed to mingle with the prospectives with ease. I ended up having half hour to 45 minute conversations with four or five profs. I think I'm buying the party line that the profs there care deeply about their students. And the prof that taught my mock class (they divided us up into two groups, by alphabet. I had Levensen, I don't remember who the other group had) was VERY engaging. They all talk about how much they care about teaching well, so I'm sure they picked the best teachers for the showcase. But nonetheless, she was very good.
The student panel (a 3L, 2 2L's, and 2 1L's) was halfway interesting. All five seemed to be having the successes they hoped for, and each had something lined up for either the summer (1L's) or post-grad life (the rest). I'm sure that was intentional on the part of LLS, too, but still. It's good to see. No earth shattering information was shared though (some outlined all semester, others started halfway through, some preferred the morning section, others the afternoon, library hours increase the closer to finals, blah blah blah).
And the other admitted students were a very sociable lot. I met a bunch of people at the Dodger Stadium thing, and we all ended up finding each other at the Friday thing. A group of us went out downtown together afterwards. Current students mingled with us during the social part of the event. It was all just very friendly. And the food from the food trucks was surprisingly solid.
That said, the swag SUCKED. Oh well.
If anyone had any specific questions, feel free to PM me.
Oh, and I went on the campus tour which was just whatever. I mean, the big lecture halls where 1L classes are held in are nicer than some of the awful bunker things I've seen, and the whole Gehry bit is kinda cool, but none of this was anything to write home about. They have some courtrooms, and apparently an active basketball and ping pong culture, if either of those are your bag.

Getting close to 4/30, anyone else still waiting to hear back from Loyola about scholarship negotiations?

I`m still waiting! They promised before 4/30, but if we don't hear back until Monday that only gives us a day to think things through (which I`ll definitely need to do because my scholly offer is measly right now)whsy wrote:Getting close to 4/30, anyone else still waiting to hear back from Loyola about scholarship negotiations?

I know, and LLS doesn't accept deposits over the phone or online. They want to receive the deposit by 4/30, so I'm hoping they'll get back to us later on today... I actually sent an email last week to follow up, and all they said was that they would update me as soon as they know.unclepete wrote:I`m still waiting! You would really think they would have a Cashnet account set up, like most schools. It must be easy enough to set up some sort of online processor. Paypal, even. Oh well. I sent my check on Tuesday. One of the small handful of checks I have written in the past decade or so.

Withdrawing and throwing 54K back into the pot. Good luck to you all--hope it goes to some TLSers!

I'm still waiting for a decision =/
It's been 4 months since I applied. I sent in my application early January, but the status checker still says that my application is complete and in review....

Just an update in case anyone is interested. I did get a response from lls, got a very modest scholarship bump, they also extended the deadline
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
