just went ucr 2 today as well. my first date was 12/1. I actually hadn't really checked my status checker before then so i'm not sure if it had changed at all before that.

No chance that they look at my app for an hour and then give me a call on the way out the door? Right?

yes, if they were going to autoding me
How cruel would that be? "We don't normally call rejects, but you are exceptionally awful and merit special attention. Merry Christmas. Click."

so if i was considering signing up for the second round ED but thought i'd have until the 6th or so to decide, does going ucr 2 mean i should hurry up and make up my mind, or that it's possibly actually too late to tack that on?

+1 And personally, I'll be happy being waitlisted, since I was expecting outright rejection.

so looking quickly through the thread it looks like after UCR 2 there's been some decisions in approx. 4 days or so. Is that pretty standard or has it varied?

I'm sorry, it's probably been answered before, but what does UCR 2 stand for?

its just when the date changes while your status is under committee review.

so for example my status checker started to read "under committee review" on 12/1/12. Then just the other day the date changed to 12/21/12 so thats when i hit UCR 2

I'm curious has there been anyone that has had a phone interview and not been accepted? From what I can tell everyone with the interview got in but thought I would check.

Yeah it looks like Dean Post had phone interviews with a few of the ED applicants (myself included). I know of about 6 that had the phone interview and I am pretty sure all of them were admitted. just wanted to see if anyone had heard of someone not getting in after the interview.

Checking in pretty late with a question on Penn's admissions process. I've applied to their PhD program for philosophy, and I decided last minute to throw out the Hail Mary and apply JD/PhD.

If I don't apply ED, have I totally screwed myself by waiting this long? Has there been any movement for RD applicants?

If you're numbers are accurate, and you don't have any super softs, I don't think you are competitive at Penn even with an ED. Maybe applying to the joint program helps, but I don't know. I hate to be a downer, but according to myLSN.info nobody with your numbers has gotten into Penn in a while. But best of luck.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
