Is it sad that I wish I could put my deposit down at UCLA even though I haven't been admitted?
sighh...

For real! Maybe we could just send the deposit anyway, as a bribe.gravityrides0 wrote:Is it sad that I wish I could put my deposit down at UCLA even though I haven't been admitted?sighh...

Re: UCLA 2011-2012 (class of 2015)
Hey, I did that... meeting with an admissions counselor was nothing like an interview... many people were waiting to speak with her, and she was very nice but the visit it was mostly business. It's more for if you have questions, they aren't going to ask you questions about yourself. Again, she was sweet and answered my questions, but adamant about them not really updating WL people about their chances... I was like "Sooo you basically just get a call or you don't?" and she said yes... So I don't think they have the time/care to bother finding out more about you. They seem to be a small office that tries to stay efficient by seeing the WL for what it is, a source from which to replace those who decide to go elsewhere. they do review WL applicants again in an unranked manner, but I doubt they want to deal with interview crap or other additional materials (aside from the usual LOCIs, transcripts, etc.)Blumpbeef wrote:Apparently they just tell you to be patient.tropicanax wrote:has anyone on the waitlist toured the school and met with an admissions counselor after their visit? is it almost (practically) like an interview? and what should be discussed etc? other than i loved the school blah blah
Edit-- Re: Blumpbeef... in a nice way, basically. but they were much nicer than the poster who shared his experience awhile ago made them out to be.

i did the same thing and felt exactly the same. she didn't even know who i was (ie did not pull up my file or anything). she was just there to answer questions and told me everything i had already figured out. mehgravityrides0 wrote:Hey, I did that... meeting with an admissions counselor was nothing like an interview... many people were waiting to speak with her, and she was very nice but the visit it was mostly business. I'm not sure if it's comforting or not for me, but from a quick look at last year's lsn it looks like ucla made initial admit decisions at least til May 5th (with the last posted admit on May 2nd).

Re: UCLA 2011-2012 (class of 2015)
Anybody have experience negotiating with UCLA this cycle? I went from 0 to 60k using my Northwestern offer, but that doesn't come close to matching and I don't think I can pass up NU's offer unless I can negotiate up for more. I feel pretty greedy asking for more, but I was pretty much set on UCLA until last Friday and want to try everything before I give up on UCLA =/

It's not. You are extending the length of our purgatory, or at least our perception of how long it will be.barrotmartin wrote:I'm not sure if it's comforting or not for me, but from a quick look at last year's lsn it looks like ucla made initial admit decisions at least til May 5th (with the last posted admit on May 2nd).

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
