Wow, that was fast. Were your numbers competitive? You could share a ballpark if u want. Might be helpful to others trying to decide startegy. I mean that is nice because you can totally try another ED.Worker and Parasite wrote:Applied ED: 11/4

Yes, you can sit out and just wait for the next cycle and then your binding agreement is null and void.FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:Is it possible to sit out a year if accepted on ED?

Any one submit a Why UVA after the submission of their app? Would the standard procedure be to just e-mail the file to the admissions office?
I'm not ED so it isn't a compressed timeline, but I am feeling the heat from all the acceptances thus far. I wish the ED deadline would just pass already.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
This is the way it works with all ED. You're only bound in the sense that you have to withdraw your apps that cycle and can't attend anywhere for the year you designated on your application.FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:Great. Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I have a feeling we will see another round of large RD acceptances first week of December. Lots of overlap between between RD people accepted already and those who either 1) just got into Michigan (presumably some of them will have a preference for UVa and some will have the opposite), and 2) have received KB1s for Harvard, some or many of which statistically will get into Harvard before Dec 1 and may have a preference for H over UVa. So I think as you start to see acceptances roll out at other schools, then a bunch of money and spots will start opening up in the next month. Since they seem to like to offer scholarships with admittance, they may be delaying some decisions to see what can be offered.
As for ED....I wouldn't take a WL too hard since one guy already got in off it after just a week. I think again, when they start to get a better idea of how other schools are admitting and whose pulling out of the race, spots inevitably start to loosen up. Its just UVa has been so far out in front in terms of decisions that it makes sense they would need to re-evaluate when the other schools start entering the game.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I applied RD on 11/2 and I haven't heard anything from UVA since (no status checker or even a confirmation email). Wasn't too worried before, but I've heard most people got their status checkers the next day from UVA. Did anyone else have a bit of a wait? The other seven schools I applied to I got a checker within 1 to 2 days.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
UVA was very quick to get their status checker out , but 2 of the 6 days since you submitted were a weekend, so I wouldn't sweat it.. though if its bugging you just call. I have called 3 schools already to verify and confirm things and have only found the people I spoke to to be very accomodating. But, they will probably tell you the same thing, to just wait. 11/2 probably puts you at the back end of the first big bulk of apps. Not late obviously, by any means.thestillpoint wrote:I applied RD on 11/2 and I haven't heard anything from UVA since (no status checker or even a confirmation email). Just submitted RD. Barring a miracle acceptance at CCN, hoping I end up at UVA next year!

For anyone wondering about submitting a "Why UVA" after turning in their application, I was told that I could just e-mail it in and it would be added to my file.
