Re: W&L 2011 Applicants
If it makes you guys feel any better, the scholly letter is going to be mailed to my parents (on the east coast), while I am living on the west coast (with my husband) because I didn't know what address to put on my application a few months ago (military = moving every couple months). So, I just have to wait for my mom to call and read it to us
At least in the meantime, I am talking to one of the Deans at W&L about my military commitments and a possible year off to deploy between 1L and 2L year to go spy on some bad guys in a scary part of the world
Very cool school, happy to be admitted

Jesus. My #'s are similar to that so I am praying I get something similar. I was just accepted a few days back so I am really hoping they do not run out of coin.

Those of you that are getting scholarship offers, were you admitted on 1/13 or before?

Brett Twitty: Our first round of scholarship letters is officially in the mail! All students admitted by January 6th (1/6) were considered in this first round of awards. If you were admitted yesterday (1/13), as mentioned in our email, information regarding your scholarship status will likely be mailed within the next ten days.
As w...e noted in our earlier email update, if you are awarded a scholarship, you will be notified of your award by letter. If you are not awarded a scholarship, you will also be notified of this decision by letter.
Please note, an applicant's scholarship award, the letter he/she is to receive or any additional, related information will NOT be displayed on his/her ASO. The letter you receive from our office will be the only source of information regarding whether or not you were awarded a scholarship, and, if so, the amount of your award.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have in any questions!

WV here. I wouldn't have been surprised if I had gotten it Saturday, 1-2 days is normal from VA to here.WB333 wrote:For those that have received letters, where are you located?
As a separate question, does anyone know if W&L requires students to have a laptop? Reading through the Life in Lexington guide, they make it sound like they don't use Examsoft or any other computerized testing. I have a iMac desktop and prefer to hand write my notes, but need to know whether to buy a laptop before coming in.

Re: W&L 2011 Applicants
$5k / year.
I hate to say this about any scholarship offer, but honestly, I'm heartbroken. I was crying in my mail room. I really wanted W&L to be an affordable option and thought based on LSN I could maybe get $10-15k. I know I probably sound like a spoiled princess, but still.

You don't sound like a spoiled princess at all. Law school is freaking expensive. I'm sorry the scholly wasn't as good as you hoped.snapdragon wrote:$5k / year.
