You lose, ably not ally... Fail..

well, I thought about going with irreducibly, but I decided that was too nonsensical even for this nonsense.

You could have just pointed out I changed it from in to irr..

ugh...it would be awful to get your hopes up after a JR1 and then experience months of silence capped with a WL

+1 to all of this.

Anyway, just got the WL email today. 169/3.91, Held in February, no JR1. I'm trying to decide whether no JR1 is worse than JR1-Hold-WL, but I think you could make an argument either way. I still think it feels worse because that's still one step further away than those of you who have JR1s. But either way, WL is WL and I'm going to go make my ancestors proud by getting good and ripped tonight. If there's a more constructive way to approach, let me know and I'll give it a go tomorrow morning. Until then, keep your heads up! Or withdraw! Either way!

Without question JR1/Hold/WL is the worst possible outcome.
Hurtful! But probably true. You weren't good enough for a JR1, you weren't good enough to get in, then you really weren't good enough to get in. I prefer to look at it as being good enough to avoid the sword of Damocles twice. Besides, as long as it's not the "worst possible outcome" (i.e., Rejection) then I'm doing alright. I've got Chicago ($) and Penn ($$) as backups, not to mention work ($$$), so worst comes to worst I just skip it and go great guns next year. Did I convince you? Because I need to get out of the working world like nobody's business. Please save me, Harvard!

After the JR1 -> Hold I forgot about Harvard and fell in love with my other good options. I greeted the waitlist with indifference.

Got the waitlist today. If someone had told me at the start that this was the outcome I would've taken it in a hot minute. But, I still want to get in.

No WL for me today, but I'm guessing I'll hear in the next round of dings, since I didn't get around to sending a LOCI.

Ugh I can't find it anywhere, but if you put in a seat deposit at CLS, do you have to withdraw from waitlists at other schools? Wasn't there going to be some LSAC policy notifying other schools of your options or something? Any thoughts on this for all of us in hold/WL/no response purgatory and looking strongly at other options but wanting to remain on the HLS waitlist?

pretty sure everyone on every waitlist has put a deposit down at another school as by definition the waitlist is a list of people awaiting a final decision until after the deposit deadline has passed. I'm sure there will be at least a hundred people putting down cls deposits while waiting out the hls waitlist. staying on a waitlist doesn't involve the decision to not go to any law school if the 5% chance of getting picked at hls doesn't pan out.

there should be another 100+ waitlists on lsn alone next week so no need to worry about the ding.

Wait....has anyone gotten a ding, or was it all WLs yesterday? Do they give out dings in batches as well, or more so on a rolling basis?
I feel it's the calm before the storm...

did anyone notice that the deferred people who are still pending on LSN (versus the deferred people who were WLed yesterday) seem to have lower numbers? that is kind of concerning to us who weren't WLed yesterday....not that WL would necessarily differ from rejection much anyway.
edit: any chance it was alphabetical? the people who i know IRL who were WLed yesterday (only three, though) are all in the first half of the alphabet.

I don't think Harvard cares much about LOCIs. They know that, except for the 200-odd people who get into Yale, pretty much everyone who gets into Harvard will go.
I think it's worth pointing out that all of yesterday's waitlists went to people who submitted before Winter Break. I'm not sure if that means the post-Winter Break holds are still in contention for JR1s and JR2s, or if it just means that we're headed for the waitlist later on, but it's worth noting.
At least it gives them time to read my new LOR.

Any news on those held in April? I was held with that big batch on April 2nd, but I didn't hear anything yesterday and I didn't see anyone else from that group report back.
