Re: Emory 2010
Sounds like there are a lot of people on this waitlist if we assume that we're only a small subset of the larger waitlisted population. Seems to run counter to what the email said about the WL being offered "only to a very select group of applicants"...

Waitlisted too with a 3.65/160. Applied a little late and had lower numbers, so I'm not too disappointed. I'm gonna ride the waitlist until the bitter end!

WL 164/3.9. I'll ride it out for awhile but I'd have a hard time going to Emory at sticker...

Just saw this for the first time, but UGA has a higher bar pass rate in GA then Emory.

The e-mail/letter says Emory requires you to withdraw your apps at all other schools.MissLucky wrote:well cant u just accept and lay down the mullah for the seat deposit but then when u get in off another waitlist at ur top choice u can just withdraw???Tweek wrote:Waitlisted today. Anyone read the FAQs? If you get off the waitlist, you have 48 HOURS to accept! I don't know whether this is the norm at other schools, but seems insanely quick to me.
Meanwhile, Hastings doesn't even give you two days. They said "immediately." Yikes. ... Though I don't recall them forcing you to withdraw everywhere else.

Georgia State U. did better. (Half a percentage point, but still.)

WL 162/3.79
I'll stay on it for a little bit, see what happens. But I doubt I would be willing to pay sticker at Emory were I to get off.

Re: Emory 2010
Could be self selection, all of the kids at the bottom of Emory's class are taking the GA bar because they couldn't get jobs in other markets (read T20 kids looking for portability; ex. taking the NY bar) therefore percentage-wise kids at UGA and GSU do better on the GA bar.TheBigMediocre wrote:So GSU and UGA do better then Emory for first timers...YIKES!ozarkhack wrote:Ooops. And bar pass rates aren't a great metric for law school evaluation. A lot of TTTs teach a particular state's bar exam and have decent pass rates. Passing the bar doesn't get you the job.

Exactly. The UGA and Emory grads will still get hired over GSU grads most of the time.thickfreakness wrote:And bar pass rates aren't a great metric for law school evaluation. A lot of TTTs teach a particular state's bar exam and have decent pass rates. Passing the bar doesn't get you the job.

Ditto. I got good money from UGA, Wake and especially Washington and Lee so I'm not riding the WL for chance to pay sticker.Nat1018 wrote:WL 165/3.6. I think I'll be withdrawing soon

Same here. WL with 165/3.74. With solid offers from UGA, Bama, W&M and W&L there's no way I'd pay sticker at Emory at this point even if I ended up getting in. Good luck to everyone else though.

So is it pretty safe to assume that if we get off the WL, we're paying sticker? or is there still a chance for $?
