That's to be able to keep your seat. What I was wondering was the priority deadline for guaranteed housing.ruleser wrote:In the packet I just got, it says April 15th for the SIR

Re: UC Irvine 2013
I don't think so - the form I am looking at says "Submit by May 3" "Once you SIR'd, access the Guaranteed Housing Application at..xxxx. between March 1-May 3, 2010 to register your interest in our guaranteed housing offer for Fall 2010."
So unless I'm reading wrong or missing something, sounds like they just started taking requests March 1 and May 3 is the deadline.
EDIT: Confirmed on another sheet they sent (the full-color housing one): "Newly admitted students apply for housing online beginning March 1.... Guaranteed students must apply by 4:30 PM May 3, 2010..."

Don't stress about the housing deadline. All of us got housing, and I'm sure not everyone applied by the deadline (I know waitlisted people who got housing). With that said, you are put on a first-come, first-served waiting list, so the longer you wait the less likely you'll get your first priority.

You need to apply by May, but I can't imagine it being advantageous to wait. I hope I don't miss out on the choices I want ...
But as long as you're in by May, you don't lose your housing guarantee.
I'm still waiting to apply for housing. Evidently it takes a really long time for them to enter you in. Sigh.

It's exactly as you think, all the dorms are Tolkien themed.njskatchmo wrote:Well, I figured a two bed room would be in order. But yes, there is the possibility that I am a serial killer, but I am accepting the same possibility. I find it very funny that on the UCI map, there is an area called "Middle Earth Housing".

Yep. I went to UCI for undergrad -- lived in Quenya (one of the Elvish languages) my freshman year (a hall with almost all single rooms). There is Rivendell, Gray Havens, The Shire, etc.RickyMack wrote:It's exactly as you think, all the dorms are Tolkien themed.njskatchmo wrote:Well, I figured a two bed room would be in order. The food halls are Pippin Commons and Brandywine. Cheesy, but cute.

Anyone else check the photos of Vista del Campo? Nothing much to like about them - especially the cheesy furninshings - UNTIL you see the club house/theatre/pool/hot tub/basketball court area. Too bad they are furnished or that would make it def. worth the xtra $$

Re: UC Irvine 2013
It's a pain that they open up the housing so early, when the SIR deadline is April 15. I imagine a lot of people are like me and still waiting on other schools to give us enough info to make an educated decision, and it's frustrating to feel rushed!
Probably a smart move for UCI though, and fair to the people who are 100% UCI. I would've appreciated them placing the housing thing after ASD :-\

Ya, it looks great! I don't mind the furnished aspect, I think I'll be putting it down.ruleser wrote:Anyone else check the photos of Vista del Campo? Re: UC Irvine 2013
The other complexes are right by the fitness center, which has the full gym open til 1AM and a huge pool, basketball - but it doesn't seem it would have the feel like this residential one. I'll have to ask at ASD, but I'd be willing to sell/donate my furniture to live at those new ones from the look of it - prob get an extra few grand anyway instead of moving a bunch of stuff. If you are going to do LS in SoCal, student housing with a massive pool and hot tub should be the required way to do it.Veritas wrote:Ya, it looks great! Hmm... maybe this will affect rankings, since more people will want to go. I can see UCI passing Yale once word spreads that bar review is held in the outdoor hot tub at the student residence.calgal17 wrote:I want to join the party!
Or they can choose rain and cold.

Shall I still hope getting UCI Law call or just count my application for UCI law as dead?

I'm keeping a bit of optimism that there will be one more wave of phone calls, but realistically, I'm hoping and praying for a waitlist now. But no one's application is dead yetlifeaway1985 wrote:Shall I still hope getting UCI Law call or just count my application for UCI law as dead?
