They review applications in blocks, ie September to November is one block, December to February is another (those aren't the actual dates, but I know they are big chunks of time). This was told to me by the Dean of Admissions. What exactly that means for those waiting to hear back, I can't be sure, but I thought it was worth pointing out. If anything, I think it works against the idea that those who just had a decison made are all in, but someone mentioned that last year they didn't send out any rejections until April, so who knows.
yeah i mentioned this fact. i'm pretty sure admissions committees can see your numbers (i.e. index score) without reviewing your app. so they may review the applications in blocks, but for some applicants within those blocks (who are not splitters/auto-admits), they probably either elect not to give them a decision until april, or elect not to review their application altogether until then. so if you have good numbers you'll get your decision earlier if you submit it earlier, but if you have bad numbers you'll have to wait until all the splitters/auto-admit applicants have been given a decision (hence, april).

Waitlisted at Illinois today, so a decision from WUSTL today would make me very happy!

I was part of the 1/26 complete update group, but my complete date just updated again to 1/29.

Anyone have this happen?

Just updated to app complete 1/29, but this is the first update for me. I'm assuming this means I should not expect a decision in the very near future.

Are we expecting $$ info in the next few weeks? They said via email, right?

i kind of wish someone from the admissions office would talk on this board like Dean Pless at UIUC. i really appreciate the transparency that UIUC has. this is just depressing with us sitting here guessing what WUSTL is doing with our applications...

I really hope so.

From what I've gathered from the admissions, the updates on 1/26 could mean a decision was made or that your file was sent to committee. Maybe some of the updates were acceptances and that's why there was no new status update today? And now the 1/29s are getting back from committee?

I'm just concocting stories to make myself feel better about not hearing yet. I want WUSTL so so badly. I know I just got a great offer at IL, but there's just something about WUSTL...

I switched current status date from 1/26 to 1/29. Good news or bad?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
